I hate to ask this but since so many of these stats are so low for people getting in. Are any white boys? I know of no full paying white boys with low stats like that getting in. I am glad you got in, dont get me wrong, just trying to figure out what it takes . …
I’m a filipino female who got in with a 1210 SAT. Scores do not matter as much as you think and my extra curriculars were really strong. I also balanced it with a 3.91 UW GPA.
admitted, pre-global studies, was on the waitlist
live in SoCal
1380 SAT, 7 AP tests: two 3, one 4, the rest 5s
4.25 UC GPA, 3.97 unweighted
born outside of the USA/wrote pretty good essays about life as an immigrant
extracurriculars related to music and student government
i am beyond excited!
I think those of us waitlisted for a major outside the College of Letters and Science will have to wait a bit longer for a decision since those majors are specialized and will require more time to evaluate. I’m not sure about this but because of this, should it be true that waitlisted SIRs to LNS would not affect waitlisted arts or engineering majors as these programs depend on whether space is available in their major? @Gumbymom ?
for those who got off the waitlist, do we have the same chances of getting housing as those who were admitted off regular decision (and applied for housing before may 1)?
congrats to everyone who currently got off the waitlist to ucla! just a reminder to decommit from the schools you originally SIR’d to if you plan on attending ucla!
My D got accepted this morning pre-business Econ
4.0 uw, 4.6 w, 4.2 UC capped
33 ACT - didn’t submit subject tests
Included a letter in the box with fall grades and predicted spring grades, and a short paragraph of something she’s been involved with all year that wasn’t included in her app. Definitely didn’t reach the 7000 character limit. She kept the information short, sweet and relevant.
I understand housing is not guaranteed next year but does anyone know when the housing application is due for those accepted off the waitlist? @10s4life do you know?
Are all L&S waitlist decisions out? I don’t think so right?
@WhimsicalSquid Ahh good to hear!! Honestly that was probably me, I’m so desperate for information that this point LOL
I am an Asian female, not a white boy lmao. I had very strong essays, that may have played a big part. Also, I am not sure if you meant me when you mentioned low stats, but personally I wouldn’t consider a 1490 and 4.7 gpa as “low” for UCLA.
@gratefulmama I don’t know the deadline for waitlist admits but def submit ASAP. You still get the same gurantees regular admits have but it’s helpful to just get that stuff turned in and out of the way.
@twoheadedshark Ha - if you’re the one who posted there, I’m the one who responded! I guess it’s better that there aren’t too many, considering how small and competitive the department is. It doesn’t look like a single person on the DMA thread here got in, so congratulations on even getting waitlisted. I know this is agonizing - hang in there just a little while longer!
@jamesNoa: The majority of majors at UCLA are in the College of Letters and Sciences so it seems logical that most of the waitlist admits will be from that College. The rest of the colleges as you stated are more specialized and have fewer waitlist spots available. I am making no predictions since this admission cycle is the exception so all anyone can do is wait until they get a decision.
No one has posted here about getting off the waitlist for Samueli engineering - which if I recall is about 15% of the student population. Sure it’s possible there have been some that did get acceptances from Samueli at same time as L&S - since CC is a small microcosm of the applicant pool - but it’s more likely Samueli is on a different track for dealing with waitlist offers than L&S.
S got off WL this morning. Can’t get into fall housing portal. Anyone else able to get in - we haven’t paid the SIR deposit so wondering if that’s it or if we need to give it time. Thanks in advance
congrats to everyone who got accepted! I’ve taken too many Ls at this point - came to terms with the fact that I’m not getting accepted
Hi Everyone! Congrats to admittance and don’t give up for the current waitlisters! It’s a strange year and there are so many possibilities!
My son got acceptance this morning under undecided life sciences.
White male
His GPA : 3.96 and weighted 4.4
Honor/ AP student
All American awarded athlete
Sports awards and championships.
He did write about recent academic awards and his grades for fall and spring. All A’s , one B in AP class.
When he emailed an admission advisor they stated that his chance off the waitlist has to do with his high school. If there was room for a male in his major then they would take him. So I don’t think being accepted has to do with region or major but a percentage they take from your high school.
so i guess they’re just clowning on engineering kids aight
@eaw I go to a small private school with only me and one other student waitlisted. Does this mean we have a high chance?
I posted earlier in the thread about getting off of the waitlist this morning for L&S (I’m also IS), and just wanted to state that I didn’t write an essay in the addition info box. I only included my Senior grades for 1st semester and the classes I’m taking for 2nd semester
