None of the students that applied for admission to UCLA from the surrounding 5 high schools (my county plus 1 more) were accepted for the fall of 2017. I was waitlisted, which seems generous at this point. There were several very strong applicants with 4.0 GPAs, good hooks, and good test scores. Why did UCLA do this?

UC [meaning any campus] is notoriously unpredictable.
