Does being waitlisted at UCSD mean no shot at UCLA?

I was wondering if anyone has heard of someone being waitlisted or rejected from UCSD but accepted to UCLA?

Not personally, but there’s always a large amount of variability from college to college. For example, if you applied bioE at SD but something else at LA, your chances may not be bad at all because SD’s bioE program is really tough. It could have come down to something as trivial as your particular adcom having a bad cup of coffee before reading your application, or something.

It’s not the best omen in the world but it by no means implies that you’ve lost your shot at LA.

ace is spot on. worry not.

Last year, a friend’s daughter was admitted to UCR (with regents) and UCD, denied by UCSD and UCLA, waitlisted by UCI and admitted to Cal. So you never know.

Yeah, admissions are such a crap-shoot.

Whatever you do, just have your hopes up!

my roommate was rejected by ucsd, but got accepted to ucla.

Got waitlisted by UC Davis and UCSD, but got into UCLA !!

Rejected by UCSD, accepted by UCLA!

Sent from my SGH-T589 using CC

@hotelrwanda, so were you accepted? lol

My son was invited to interview for the Regents Scholarship at Cal, accepted by Davis, SD and SB, but wait listed by UCLA.

Yes, I got waitlisted in UC Davis and UCSD. Then I got accepted to UCLA and UCB.
