I am going to transfer as Japanese major, but also thinking of majoring in English in the future.
Is there any kinds of regulations? Like, I have to graduate from UCLA within 2 years?
If you double major, you’re allowed one extra semester at Berkeley, and I believe one extra quarter on the quarter system, but someone might want to verify.
Summer sessions don’t count, so you can add as needed.
Umm, this wasn’t about Cal, so that’s irrelevant.
Also other posters have pointed out that transfers are not restricted to graduating within two years.

Wow, just by accident as I was cleaning out links on my computer, I happened upon something that may be relevant to you @swheed. However, after that remark to me from luckyname because I happened to mention Berkeley, I just backed off.
But, yeah, it did seem a bit unusual that a UC would allow someone to dawdle and take as long as they wanted to graduate, since they usually want to move you along to bring in new students.
Anyhow, here it is regarding L&S anyway. Can’t speak for the other colleges, but it appears if you are in L&S, as is the case with Berkeley, you are expected to graduate within two years after you transfer (6 quarters). Otherwise you have to petition and your coursework can be put on hold at some point. Berkeley usually lets you add another semester, and it seems similar with UCLA L&S, from what I could gather.
Anyway, here are two links. It notes in both places that transfers are expected to graduate in 6 quarters in L&S. Hope this helps you plan your strategy. And yeah, as with Berkeley, summer sessions don’t count.
