Hey guys, I'm set on applying as an econ major but I was just wondering if it would be difficult to double major in English? Would I have to complete all the prereqs for my second major before I transfer?

I also heard that Berkeley has a unit cap which, if you reach, forces you to graduate. How would I sort it out so that I can double major but still finish all the requirements for my major before I graduate?

Thanksss

It's a weak unit cap. You can petition for additional semesters and these petitions are almost always granted. At least in L&S.

Haas is very restrictive, thats the only one I know off hand for Cal

You don't need to do the prereqs for your intended second major when transferring to Cal.

You never have to do prereqs for any "second" major at any UC. It just helps to take it at a CCC so you won't have to take alot of units per semester when you transfer. This assumes you attempt to stay at the UC for two years and double major within this time frame.

Even then, isn't the average time spent at a UC by transfers 2.9 years? I think I read this on the UC website.

Well cost is a factor to double major or not. More years in school = more money.
