UCLA engineer transferring from community college

So I was admitted to UCLA for fall 2017 from Irvine Valley college as a civil engineer. I have completed as many prerequisites as I can, but about 4 weren’t offered at my or any near college. These classes were UCLA’s CEE 102, MAE 103 and CEE 108.

Question 1:
What should I do to assure I complete all major requirements within 2 years?

Secondly, I’ve taken a few GE classes at IVC. These are Econ 2, Music 1, Anthro 1, Communications 1. Now it’s my understanding you need 5 GEs at UCLAs engineering department. But when I looked on assist, it looked like my classes weren’t articulated. From my understanding, this is very disappointing to me as I wasted time as they don’t articulate.

Question 2: could I potentially make them articulate? If not, what should I do about completing my GE? I don’t wanna take them at UCLA and don’t wanna be at UCLA for more than 2 years

Some engineering majors are hard to complete in 2 years after transfer. Take courses during the summers.

Assist says Econ 2 meets UC-B, Music 1 meets UC-H, etc. http://web2.assist.org/web-assist/report.do?agreement=tca&reportPath=REPORT_2&reportScript=Rep2.pl&event=28&ia=IRVINE&ay=16-17&arc=N&dora=MUS

Contact an advisor in the department and be prepared when you attend your orientation.

There is no articulated course at IVC that is equivalent to CEE 101, but if you took a statics course you can have it evaluated for CEE 101 credit, but only after you submit a SIR. CEE 102, MAE 103, and CEE 108 are all offered this summer, I would highly recommend taking it before the fall quarter to have the best chance at finishing in 2 years. You may also have to take CEE 101 if your statics course at IVC is not articulated as equivalent.

Econ 2 - not a GE
Music 1- not a GE
Anthro 1 - satisfies the Life Science GE, but Civil Engineering majors have a “Natural Science” requirement and Anthro 1 will not fulfill that, so you’ll still need to fulfill Natural Science (which essentially means you have to take another Life Science GE)
Comm 1 - not a GE

@alicantekid

Okay, if I took Anthropology 9 at Saddleback and Anthropology 2 at Irvine Valley College this summer, will I be able to complete my Social Science, and my History Analysis GE requirement?

@jaleshaiker If you take both of those courses, you’ll get credit for both historical analysis and social analysis.

@jaleshaiker You’re better off taking C&EE classes at UCLA this summer rather than GEs at the community college.
