UCLA Fall '20 Transfer Waitlist Thread

@emmyemmye this is a bit of a complicated question. What are the two majors? I would keep in mind that a non-marketable degree from UCLA is still non-marketable, no matter the prestige of the school. I have no idea what your majors are, but I would say just keep in mind that prestige does not mean everything.

Agree with you absolutely. Do we have until 11:59 PM on June 1st? If so we can literally push SIRing to our safety until June 1st to see whether UCLA has released any waitlist notifications!

Although we receive notification through email, I’m checking my portal an unhealthy amount of times!

Major: Pre Business Economics

GPA: 3.92

Major Prep Complete: Yes

Extracurricular(s): speaks four languages, works in the International Student Services as Activities Programmer, has managed new student orientation for a year, some volunteers, and one club (p.s. I am an out-of-state international transfer student from a community college in Washington)

TAP: No

Opt-in/Opt-out: Opt-in

Reasons you may have been waitlisted:

  1. Too mainstream essays- did not mention a lot about major-related things
  2. 3.7 GPA on both micro and macroeconomics
  3. Included too much, irrelevant activities

First Generation Student: No

Additional Info: I am from Indonesia!

Questions: If we are rejected from the waitlist, do they notify us in the email? And when will be the last announcement of the decision (mid June? July?)

Thanks!!

Does anyone know if the AO’s are guaranteed to read our waitlisted information when we Opt-In? Or, will they only review our responses if a spot opens up in the department for our major?

Guys I woke up to an email supposedly from UCLA Financial Aid claiming it to be my “Provisional Award Letter” the email is from DoNotReply@saonet.ucla.edu

It has my ID number and instructions on how to log in but when I try to it says “identity cannot be validated”

Also, my decision letter on my actual UCLA portal still says waitlisted from April 24th.

The letter looks legit, the links all go to UCLA websites and the number goes to UCLA financial aid, but something is weird.

Help!!

@frogluvr u should probably email the admission and ask them.

I don’t want to give you hope because this might not be the case but I noticed some waitlisted students from previous years receive their financial aid reward email before they got notified they were accepted. With that being said, I agree with @AegonSusanteo. Contact them about it. It could also be a mistake in the system, etc.

@frogluvr yeah! I think it looks legit, but don’t get your hopes high yet, but sure it is a good sign. Just wait until they give u the acceptance letter.

@frogluvr I agree with them!^

It looks like a good sign based on previous years but make sure you contact them. May I ask your major and if you’re IS or OOS/int’l?

At least we know now that something is happening soon! It’s about time!

i’m an in state applicant actually! english major

^ Agree! The reason it took a while is not only the Coronavirus. It is also because a lot of accepted students are not denying their application (cuz they going to another uni, and they thought it is best to let it be). So for those of you guys who are not going to the university that accepted you, please deny your letter. Many students want your spot!

By doing that we can speed up the process of admission. Helping others (waitlist, appeal students to get their acceptance) while also helping the admission team.

Major: Pre Economics

GPA: 3.64

Major Prep Complete: Yes

Extracurricular(s): Couple clubs/student organizations and a summer internship.

TAP: No

Opt-in/Opt-out: Opt-in

Reasons you may have been waitlisted:
I have no idea. I was surprised that they didn’t reject me right away.

First Generation Student: No

Additional Info: OOS international applicant from the University of Washington-Seattle.

Questions: Not yet. Good luck everyone!

Don’t want to give you too much hope, but based on the Freshmen waitlist thread, people who got their PAL were accepted before their portal updated. They said the first line of the email started along the lines of “Congratulations on your admission to UCLA” or something, so check your portal and email later on and see if you receive an email stating your portal was updated. If you do, congrats! But I would wait to see if your portal updates before getting your hopes up!

yes the PAL letter does start with “Congratulations on your admission to UCLA!” ahh i’m so nervous that it’s a mistake or something i’m goin crazy. does the freshman thread show how long it took for their portal to update after having received the PAL Financial Aid email?

GUYS I GOT MY UPDATE I GOT IN!!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL

I KNEW IT!!! Congratulations!! So happy for you!!

I got in pre Maths today , good luck to everyone,

damn congratss!!!
