UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

@willowstil maybe a little bit of luck may help too. Anyways, we already did our part, and now its UC’s job to do their job.

Also, a friend of mine who had a 3.8 GPA (CC student) and got in for UCLA and UCB for engineering last fall 2018. So I believe you definitely will have a better chance.

I have a 3.7 GPA and did TAP for UCLA and waiting to till the end of April.
Hopefully, we all will be able to hear some good news soon! :smile:

@AeroDE Thanks, here’s to hoping!

I think a high GPA with TAP gives you a great shot. What’s your major?

So what’s the review process like? Do two officers check our file and both need to ok it for example?

@GoodAfternoonSir My housemate’s mom is a freshman admissions reviewer for UC Santa Cruz. Basically there’s a team of well educated people they hire to read the essays, grade them on a rubric, and review the general application just to make sure they actually qualify for admittance. Multiple people view each application as to prevent “outlier” rankings. After that, the applications move on to the actual admissions team who makes the final decisions.

It sounds like Berkeley does the same: https://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/04/education/edlife/lifting-the-veil-on-the-holistic-process-at-the-university-of-california-berkeley.html
I would think that UCLA would have a similar process. Beyond that, it’s hard to say how the final decisions are made.

They definitely have readers but there are always checks and balances and committee reviews.

Have any other school of art/architecture applicants received an email invitation to the imagine Ucla arts open house?

@butterflyclip some WAC major applicant got one Thursday around 3PM PST. Sadly, I didn’t get one myself so not expecting much from UCLA. But one could always hope for a miracle.

@willowstil Hopefully!

I’m majoring in biology/biochemistry. Although, my GPA is in borderline :neutral:

@adreezybones So does the email indicate acceptance? I hope you get in! It seems like some still get in if they don’t receive the invite.

@butterflyclip I’m not in a position to say yes, but from what I’ve read from all over the internet, it’s a “likely” indication. Well thank you! I’ve also read that people could still get in without it and I’m hoping that could be the case. Are you a DMA applicant?

@butterflyclip Did you receive one? If you did what major are you?

@adreezybones @starshineee yes I received one on Thursday afternoon. DMA transfer.

Are there facebook group for housing where we can find potential roomies?

Hey guys, I applied with 3.67 GPA with TAP first choice English second American Lit. I have very prerequisite finished and my personal statements were very good in my opinion. What are my chances of getting in with any of my majors.

i didnt get an email with the ucla open house invite (arch major). on thursday i only received an invitation from berkeley to go to cal day

Have any transfers been accepted yet?

Hey everyone, did anyone check any sort of box on the UC App indicating TAP certification? I dont recall seeing anything to signal it and was told to write it in the “educational prep program” section. Did anyone do this? and will it effect anything? I signed my TAP form and everything.

edit: Spoke too soon! Found my answer on the TAP faq.

@chlotaylor UCLA releases all on one day as does Berkeley. The tentative date is April 24.

@Ohm888 Do you know the exact decisions dates for UCB, UCLA, UCSD, and UCI?

I am honestly so anxious about decisions because I am a psych major and at UCLA that major is super impacted!
