UCLA Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Berkeley is April 19. That’s all I know.

@Ohm888 Okay thanks.

im so worriedd. does an upward trend look good? bc im worried if my gpa is not good enough :((

For anyone who still wants a central list of decision dates, here is a transfer consultant/blogger who is updating a dates page frequently: http://■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/2018/12/2019-uc-transfer-admission-notification-dates/

is anyone else a Global Studies major? :slight_smile:

@gokingsgo1999 that’s my second choice major if that helps?

@mpineda3247
Just saw your chance me. Did you apply as Linguistics and TAP for Computer Science as alternative major? Or the other way around? I think you have good stats and really nice EC’s. My friend got into UCLA linguistics with a 3.5 and barely any ECs. She had a lot of responsibility at home though, taking care of her little brother. She also worked at a wedding boutique. Plus with TAP I think you’ll be fine. At my community college everyone who has as been TAP certified has gotten into UCLA. :slight_smile:

Chance me! :slight_smile:

Major: UCLA - BizEcon
GPA: 4.0 GPA (Prerequisites & Cumulative)
IGETC: Completed
UCLA TAP Certified
Applied: UC Berkeley (Econ), UCLA (BizEcon), USC (Marshall), UCD (Received Regents Invite + Tagged), UCI, UCSB (Accepted), UCSD
Other: I was selected to participate in Berkeley Summer Experience, UCB Starting Point Mentorship, UCLA CCCP Academic Achievement Scholars Program
Honors/Awards: 7+ scholarships

Extracurriculars: VP of Business Club, Treasurer Student Government, Math/Stats Tutor, Insurance and Financial Firm, Consultant Internship, Government Internship for an Assemblymember, Phi Theta Kappa Member, Volunteered as mentor for high school students, Waitress

Good luck everyone! :slight_smile:

It’s kind of a bummer that just in case I don’t get into the art program of UCLA, I couldn’t get considered for my alternate major since School of Art applicants only get one shot and it is the 1st choice major.

@calbear1998
Hey thanks for the reply! There is actually a specific linguistics and computer science mixed major in L&S that falls under the other linguistics majors. I could only TAP L&S majors, and that major and coursework is actually super interesting to me as I wanted to learn CS with a humanities subject. Its very encouraging to hear that she got in! Gives me hope as I have been stressing about that GPA and the ranges on the UCLA website nonstop lol. I am in the displayed range for admission, but im still pretty stressed

@mpineda3247 Best of luck to you! I think you’ll get in. :slight_smile:

Can’t believe it’s already April! We’re only a few weeks away from hearing decisions. It’s been feeling like an eternity since November.

Hi everyone! Anyone here applying from out of state? Does anyone know the general admit rate for OOS (or by Major?)

@laracroft12 I can’t help with providing exact numbers but I do know the vast majority of UCLA transfers are from the California community college system. They take very few transfers from four-year univ / out of state cc/universities.

@laracroft12 These aren’t exact numbers (for OOS) but they should give you a better idea.

Applicants: 23,741
Admitted: 5,591
Admit rate: 24%
94% of admitted transfer students were from California community colleges.

Source: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/campuses/ucla/transfer-profile/index.html

@laracroft12 I saw a data table from the UCOP website. It states the number of Accepted OOS and total applied for OOS so you could get an idea of numbers you’re looking for.

Cant believe I got accepted for freshman admission out of high school and transfer admission last year and decided not to got both times.

@XOcrew75 why didn’t you go?

It’s time ladies and gentleman! The countdown officially begins and I hope it all works out for us in the end ?

@mpineda3247 @pshms7888 @sleepypolarbear Sorry to tag you all. I have a question about the Linguistics & Computer Science major. Do you know what the pre-reqs are for the major? I’m getting conflicting information from counselors.

One told me that I don’t need to take any specific classes because assist.org doesn’t list any courses for the major. However, another counselor said I should take foreign language classes, calculus classes, and several other pre-requisite classes. Which is correct?
