Pre-Statistics
3.9 GPA (physics might lower it…)

I’m surprised I got in! I am still missing computer class (recommended) and Foreign Language for UC IGETC. I don’t have TAP or any honors classes however I did get an honors transfer degree (for Cal State schools?).

I don’t have many EC’s. I came from a high school that offered only two math classes: Algebra 1 and Geometry. Trig and calculus wasn’t really offered. I never took a single AP class (not offered) or the SAT/ACT. I took so many remedial math classes in a cc, starting below college algebra. I have now finished the calculus series, linear algebra, and diferential equations but am currently taking Statistics. I’m so happy I got the $70 fee waiver to give me the opportunity to apply to this school.

I really want to give thanks to my professors from gcc for encouraging me to go to school and continue my education.

Admitted:CSUN, Cal Poly Pomona, CSUF, CSULB
I had to withdraw my application from UC Berkeley because I was missing one class from IGETC, foreign language.

I’m doing cog sci too!!

Congrats everybody!

Accepted!!!

GPA: 3.92
TAP: Nope, not even sure what that is.
Major: Biochemistry
Location: Southern California
Essays: Got a late start, most of the essays I wrote were just snippets from old essays. I updated them and improved them overall. Also, dropped a lot of “big names” (eg. smithsonian, hhmi) of where I’ve volunteered at. Emphasized my ideologies and why UCs provide that sort of education.
EC: Assistant manager at 19 (struggles of leadership, also in essays), applied and attended Fortune magazine’s powerful women summit, speech team, teaching assistant for biology and chemistry, and private tutor since like the 11th grade.
GE’s: IGETC
Major Prep: all preparation for the major except linear algebra, which is not even required for the major, only recommended.
Accepted: CSULB, CSUF, Cal Poly Pomona, SDSU, UCI, UCSB, UC Berkeley, and UCLA!!!
Rejected: none!!

I hope to see you guys next year!

I’m a non-California native living in socal and I dont think i’m ready to go to berkeley, or anywhere far from the OC bubble, on my own, but also I’m sooo thrilled to be attending UCLA!!

ACCEPTED for MCDB!

IGETC: completed
Pre-reqs: completed by end of spring (including physics sequence)
TAP certified
Essays: Pretty solid, wrote about leadership, hardships, and extracurriculars

Congrats to everyone on their acceptances to any UC or college this cycle!

WAITLISTED
Major: Chemistry
GPA: 3.4

Admitted-UCSD, UCD
Denied- UCI
Not IGETC certified
2 year CCC student

Extracurricular- TEAM USA Athlete/Coach, STEM Program Leader, Honor’s Club Treasurer, (a bunch of highschool accomplishments ex: Marching Band and Concert Band all 4 years, Red Cross Club, Seal of Billiteracy, etc)

Fun Fact: during my highschool application, UCLA asked for supplementary essays because they wanted to know about me.

I think essays helped me because I was very genuine and straightforward with my experiences. I’ve seen some say, “oh i try to be funny, etc”. But that’s not me. I didn’t highlight my achievements but my growth about certain events and etc.

2nd time posting but I felt very comforted from these threads since 2018. As my gratitude, I decided to post this for future applicants! Was a stressful and hot week!

WAITLISTED
GPA: 3.84
