UCLA Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

Hi @Bibihcmvn I saw your comment back before decisions came out and I was trying to send you a PM but I don’t know how haha Do you mind sending me a PM?

@trisish Congrats! My UCLA Applicant portal shows two events (New Bruins: Next Steps and Transfer Talk: Q&A for Transfer Students). Link And there are also more events for committed at link.

Hi! Do you guys think that maybe more transfers will get off the waitlist this year? Last year they directly admitted around 23% of transfers and this year it was only around 13%. Maybe it’s done to protect their yield rate due to the COVID-19 crisis…?

I’ve been drafting my letter to hopefully be off the waitlist and I’m trying to remain hopeful!!

Hi @lovecpa , they sent an email saying “I would like to encourage you to apply…” with a code to apply on their scholarship website.

Has anyone heard back about the Transfer Alumni Scholarship? Or has it not been released yet. If so, when will it be out and where can I check it?

Hello,

Have any of you received your Provisional Financial Award letter? My letter says it’s not available, but is this because I have not accepted my offer of admission?

@tobyisasnail I was rejected for pre-history as well
I am very torn too and I got accepted to the schools you did too

What a nice concern to have

@uclahopeful4 they didnt admit 13% it was probably closer to 22% as there are 3500 spots available for transfer students. since their yield rate is close to 60% they probably admitted around 6000/26000 and are assuming around 3500 will register

@Ohm888 my friend was waitlisted and he’s overseas. Can he ask why he was waitlisted over email or would he have to call them?

They won’t tell you why you’re waitlisted. Bugging them with questions might be a sure way to get crossed off the list. If the UC accepts a waitlist letter send that and tell your friend to sell themselves.

Do you guys know what major you were waitlisted for? I applied for a primary and alternate major so I’m not sure which major I’m currently waitlisted for since it doesn’t show on the decision letter.

@user23859389 When I went to the SIR for deposit fee it stated under Status “Not Required” Is it waived? Do we need to pay it later?

does anyone know if there’s a fb page for class of 22 transfers to find roommates!!!

Got in with a 3.96 gpa and I know one of the requirements was is to maintain a good gpa. This spring my gpa seems like it’s going to be around 3.4-3.7 and if I do getting the worst case scenario of a 3.4, is that a big difference where I’d get rescinded? I know due to covid19 they probably be more lenient but idk I’m still kinda worried. Pls lmk if I should even be worried about a 3.4 in the first place lol

I just put in my housing request, now time to find a roommate!! Is there a page to find them?? also is there an IG chat or Facebook chat for new UCLA transfer students?

Hi guys. I got accepted and although I am still considering my options, I was looking to fill out the IGETC certificate of completion form. My form from Santa Monica College states “UC CAMPUS & ID NUMBER OF THE TRANSFER SCHOOL” Does anyone happen to know the ID number of UCLA? Is it not the UCLA Student ID listed on my acceptance letter?

If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated!

@aamandataylor Yeah I was confused by that as well, since I was told the same thing about SB. I ended up getting into UCSD which is great, but surprising since I was missing Calc 3 and I haven’t seen anyone get into their Econ department missing that requirement.

On the flipside, I got waitlisted at UCLA despite having TAP and all my major prep and IGETC done by the end of this semester. All I have in progress are Physics for IGETC and English + Managerial for Bus. Econ.

@Bubonica Wouldn’t we still be out in 2 years though like any other junior-level transfer? One-year transfer usually just means most of the GE’s for IGETC were filled through AP’s or dual enrollment while in HS.

Well I believe you’re only considered for your alternate major if you did TAP
