UCLA Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

I did not get a regents email, however, UCLA keeps asking me for info it seems they are having trouble distinguishing what I took during high school vs classes as a fulltime student. Since I became a full-time college student at 16. I wrote about it extensively throughout the app and in the additional comments though so I’m somewhat worried that it has not been pieced together yet.

i am also in the same situation!

@schoolgirl731 I hope this does not affect my admissions chances… like I mentioned I wrote about it extensively in the comments and in the essays. They asked for a transcript and I sent it and then they asked for the transcript with the high school classes… Those classes were shown in the original transcript. I have no idea what to do lol.

@“UCLA22CogSci/LINGCS”
If you have explicitly explained your situation, then you should be okay. As long as you have made sure to complete the required courses and IGETC pattern.

@schoolgirl731 yep I did IGETC, completed prereqs and am TAP certified.

Im in a similar situation, went full time at 15 but did not take any classes my first two years of high school and they have not asked me for anything additional. I mentioned it as well, (and it seems many others have as well). so Im sure they’ve put it together and you shouldn’t worry.

@oceanman32 the problem for me is I took classes when I was 14 and did terrible in them, as they were just for fun over the summer I did not take them seriously. Then when I started fulltime at 16 I had to dig myself out of a massive whole. So I want them to recognize the distinction. It was like taking a quiz that doesn’t count towards your grade then you later find out its worth 10% of your total grade lol. They assumed that I took separate classes that I did not mention they did not realize those summer classes were during high school.

Hey guys, in regarding to the regents email you were talking about earlier, I didn’t get that email, so do we think it means something?

Probably just depends if you made an account with the UCLA UG Scholarships page or completed the general application is my guess

oh! that makes sense actually and I would hope that’s the case, considering I didnt make an account for scholarships or fill out any scholarship applications I hope not getting the email is nothing to worry about.

@oceanman32 yeah it can’t hurt you

they stated that the email was a mistake and that the actual regents email will be sent out soon, so there is nothing to worry about.

@10s4life Hi, problem solved, it was about the regents scholarship that was sent last night, but it happens to be a mistake. Thank you.

If anyone receives the regents invitation with a code please let us know! Best of luck!

No one’s going to get it they haven’t compiled the list of regents yet

Been lurking for a while haha

Figured I would break up the anxiety a little…

My Stats are as follows:

GPA: 3.62
Major: Political Science
Alternate Major: History
Job/Work Experience: Part time employee in local government (Community Services).
Volunteer/Community service: Volunteered in my current position before being hired.
Instate?: Yes, Local: No
Mature Student?: No
Previous / Current School Type: Community College
IGETC: Will be completed by end of spring 2020 semester
AA-T degrees (will receive spring 2020): Political Science + Law, Public Policy, and Society
Completed UC transfer pathway for Political Science.

Also applied to: UCSD, UCI, UCSB

Accepted Schools: CSUCI, CSUN

Denied: Cal Poly SLO (didn’t meed the major requirements, don’t know why I applied lol)

I know that an admission to UCLA is a stretch given my stats, but if I was accepted it would very likely be one of, if not my top choice!

Wishing everyone the best of luck
Best,
Cole

@hoshizora right, do you know if the regent email is going to be sent before or after the decision?

The scholarship page just states “soon” so maybe before decisions?

Cog Sci major here. Hopefully all goes well.

Can you link the scholarship page you’re talking about? I dont see it anywhere.
