It should be in your email once you click the link, under UCLARegent Scholarships it says:
“4/10/20: Please accept our apologies for the erroneous email sent out this morning regarding the opening of the Transfer Regents scholarship. While we had hoped to open this week, due to the impact of Covid19, we are still waiting to receive the list of eligible candidates. Please be assured that the application will be opening soon and the evites that we send out will contain the unique code needed to apply.”
oh okay . Did you make a scholarship account before receiving the email or no? I didnt receive the email but I heard it because I did not make a scholarship account.
i think those that made a scholarship account got the email. It seems as if the regents application was uploaded last night so that’s why we all go the email.
Hi, I got an email a few days ago asking for me to submit my high school transcript.
I saw that @“UCLA22CogSci/LINGCS” asked a similar question earlier and @davidls replied saying he/she might be on “edge”. However, my situation’s a tad bit different.
I’m currently in my first yr of CCC and have applied to Design Media Arts, a major under UCLA’s School of Art and Architecture. If accepted, I will begin school as a sophomore in the fall.
UCLA’s art school is the only school with majors that consider sophomore-level transfers, which is the only reason I was able to apply. However, as a sophomore-lvl transfer, it also means they will take my high school transcript and ACT/SAT score into account, along with everything else.
The fact they asked to see my high school transcript (specifically listed) and not my CC transcript really bummed me. I know for a fact my hs transcript weighs less in this equation, PLUS the fact I entered all my hs grades in the application. I don’t know why they need my transcript because there is literally zero new information on it.
Also, I don’t know if this is true, but apparently people have asked AO’s in my major about the admission process, and the breakdown is: the art department first reviews the supplemental applications (note: this includes my art portfolio and all grades/scores and ECs). If the student passes the portfolio review (confirmed the most important part of the application), the art faculty can submit a request to general admissions, who then reviews the whole application to see if the student meets minimum requirements (3.0 GPA, etc). The student is accepted if he/she does.
I’m freaking out because I have a 4.0 at my CCC but my hs grades are definitely not UCLA level (they do, however, meet minimum requirements). SO I DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY’RE TRYING TO LOOK FOR. Why did they ask for my hs transcript???
This is ONLY my opinion, but I think that they anyone who got the Regents email will be invited to apply for the Regents scholarship, and thus will get in to UCLA! I think they just weren’t ready to accept the applications yet, and one group (the inviters) got ahead of the other (the applicant takers). So, I think it’s VERY good news for people who got that email, BUT I think it’s possible that there is some truth to what they say that they did not yet have their “list of eligible candidates,” as in they don’t have their COMPLETE list of eligible candidates, and so anyone who did not get that…it does not mean you won’t be invited to apply for Regents, and surely does not mean anything about your admission decision.
@jesse’sgirl That could be wishful thinking, but I sure hope that’s correct. I was wondering it myself. Did you receive the email as well? As it gets closer to the end of April I’m just sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation…
@“jesse’sgirl” I think it’s just whoever made a UCLA scholarship acct. I have friends in the low 3s range who got it that made the email but also know several people with a 4.0 and TAP who didn’t none of them registered a scholarship account.
You guys, the Regents Scholarship is very selective. The email was not meant to be sent out to a mass amount of applicants, and it was obviously a complete mistake. It was an automated email that was not an actual invitation to apply because it was absent of the code.
If you didn’t make an account, of course you wouldn’t get the email—you don’t have an email that’s linked to an account on the scholarship portal. The best any of us can do is wait out the admissions decisions and hope for the best. I wish everyone luck!
@jaescott I feel same way… I got into my TAG today but if I don’t get into UCLA it would destroy me. Idk if I can afford school outside of LA. All of my work leads up to this. I wish it was like the old days where TAP certified basically meant you had a guarantee lol.
I’m a Cog Sci major too, as far as I know we are a bit of a rare breed but a growing alt major. I really hope it gets bigger and that there are more programs/tracks offered for it.
@digitalfutures Cog Sci will explode soon with the ability to do pre-law or pre-med and have technical knowledge. Or go into software with an emphasis on AI and machine learning.
