@ndrsn0208 I don’t think that will affect you too much. If you get denied and you believe that is the only reason you did not get accepted (or a large part of it), you can appeal using that information to explain they didn’t have the course option.
However, it also depends on what school you’re going to. If you’re going to a CCC then you would likely be fine without because they would already be aware of the issue. If you’re going to an out-of-state or private school then you might have an issue.
I hope that it is irrelevant and you get accepted in the coming days.
Has anyone changed their direction due to this COVID pandemic? I got into UCSB and UCI, waitlisted at Berkeley and waiting on UCLA but due to what’s going on, I’m leaning towards attending a state school so I don’t have massive overhead / loans.
I’m declining both UCSB and UCI today to hopefully open up space for those that are waitlisted and more than likely I will withdraw my interest in Berkeley as well, regardless if it’s just a waitlist. Although the unofficial financial aid package letters are nice, they would still require a loan of some sort.
I’m holding out hope for UCLA before submitting my intent to register with either CSUN or CSULA… I truly hope we all get word soon!
Definitely has impacted my decision thought process. I got into Berkeley and although I would love to go, not sure how feasible it would really be considering the state we’re in, also I’m a SoCal resident so housing would be another thing to consider : /
@NavyGuy2019 I’m from Penn State. I hope that’s irrelevant too. But I guess I need to send an appeal letter after I get denied. Because I got denied by UCB too, probably the same reason. I think my stats are competitive (GPA 3.97, completed all requirements, except for one more transferable English course, co-founded a coding club at school, build an Ai to play the Snake game last summer). I really want to get into UCLA, hope I’ll be fine.
Anyway, Thank you so much for the reply, that really ease my anxiety a lot. Good luck to you on Friday.
@ndrsn0208 i hate to be the bearer of bad news but those two correct English courses are key to acceptance. They’re fanatical about the English.
You can look here on the Berkeley site and see if they fulfill R1A and R1B. Those are the courses to look for. If they match at Berkeley they’ll match at all the UCs.
If it’s not listed it still might match. If you got in anywhere then the courses are okay.
@Ohm888 I looked up my English courses at this site before and I didn’t find any match for R1B. I sent an email to Berkeley and they replied that they will verify to see if my English course can fulfill R1B.
I’m going to send an email rn to ask if I got rejected because of the English course.
I applied for CS without any physics. Do I still have a chance?
Or if I stay for 2 more semesters at my cc I will be able to do 2 out the 3 recommended courses, would that give me a chance?
Hi everyone! I see a lot of people asking about missing pre-reqs and I wanted to share my experience. I just got rejected from UCI because I was missing a general chemistry prerequisite. The school wouldn’t take my 3 from AP chemistry even though the UCI counselor said they would make an exception if I finished the chemistry sequence at my CC. I had a guaranteed admission through my CC’s U-Link program that was invalidated by the school considering my chemistry prerequisite “missing”. I spoke to the counselor today and she said that no exceptions can be made for required prerequisites and that all UCs generally reject applicants in that situation too. The problem is that I am already finishing my organic chemistry sequence and wouldn’t be able to go back and take the first general chemistry class (CC rules). Hopefully UCLA isn’t the same and they’re more holistic, but I can tell UCI didn’t even read my application because the transfer rep I spoke to was getting a lot of information wrong about me.
@chun_lilli I believe you can take Chem 1. You won’t get units as it’s out of sequence but you should get subject credit. I’m not sure about the rules you speak of but that’s usually how those things get remedied. You should recontact them and ask to be sure. However, it’s too late this time around, but if you reapply it might be an option.
@Ohm888 yeah my counselor included me in an email thread with the UCI rep who she knows personally and the rep was insisting that I’m not eligible for Public Health Science. And there’s a lot of students who try to get into Chem 1 at my CC because classes get full almost as soon as they open. According to my counselor, I wouldn’t be given priority over anyone who hasn’t taken chem before so basically I’m going to have to take it at a different CC and wait another year to apply. Sucks man, I have paid UCs twice to read my application and I’m getting screwed over a class I took in high school.
I can kinda chime in for missing prerequisites too. Fortunately, I got accepted to UCB with a messing major requirement course that wasn’t offered at my CC or any CC around me locally. I emailed them and called them, to make sure they knew, they told to make sure that I had full IGETC completed and all other major prerequisites completed . It’s kinda weird how it works, missing a prerequisite doesn’t necessarily equate to rejection.
They’re okay with that as long as the prerequisite is not available at your CC. I think they state that on their website. You just need to follow the assist page for your major and your CC.
It becomes an issue when you don’t complete ALL the prerequisites available at your school.
@Ohm888 I was missing classes for UCI (circuits) and UCD (chem). I also found out that UCSB at my college requires 1 more CS course than the other colleges in the district… Do you think I got rejected due to the missing courses? I think UCB was just bc it was competitive
@smallettuce
yesss hearing they only accept 10 transfers definitely made me feel like I didn’t have any chance but I feel better after what you said thanks!
Did you apply to any other schools for nursing? And which one is your top choice?
