@socalshehulk im literally in the same boat as you!! im a sociology major too and im in the middle of stats rn )-: i really thought on assist it said to have these two prereqs completed by the end of the spring sem and now im really worried ??
Yay! I’m a soc major too!! I did stats in high school when I took dual enrollment courses with my CC, but I got a B in it because I was not taking it seriously, but IDK how that will affect my decision.
im a soc major too, took stats in CC and got a B. It didn’t affect my admissions for UCB, UCD, UCI, or UCSB as i got accepted to all of them. Dont worry!
@cali2good awesome! Ya, so far, I don’t think it’s been an issue. I got into all the schools I applied to so far, including UCB, UCSC, and UCI! Probs just preadmissions day jitters making me overthink haha
I have a question, does being local affect your chances of getting accepted to a UC? For example, in Fall 2019, 39 students from Irvine Valley College were accepted to UCI for cs compared to other ccs where only a handful or even no cs students were accepted? https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major
@cali2good Thx you too! Right now, my first choice is Cal, I just love the school, and it was a school I never thought I would get into in high school, haha! They also offered a substantial financial aid package! My second choice out of my options right now would be UCI, but I won’t receive a financial aid package until mid-May. However, if I get into UCLA, it will be between there and Cal, depending on who gives the bigger package too of course. How about yourself?
@anji22 s/he doesn’t, people are just speculating. Apparently a woman named Ms. Sun said it’ll come out tomorrow but realistically you will hear back within the next 6 business days. Plain and simple we will know by April 30th.
I’ve been waiting for this moment all year, I can wait one more week. It is upon us.
@omgwig I am not sure if it is the case for all campuses but I believe location is a consideration factor. I live near UCSB and for both my time in high school and CC their admissions officers did say we have a higher percentage of admittance just by being local. However, it is not a guarantee, I know many locals that got rejected from UCSB both in high school and CC.
Thanks for the tips! I tried it after I saw some other people in the 2020 thread do it. I had to use the chat feature because they apparently closed down all the phone lines due to COVID.
I’m not sure if it was just that I had bad luck or I’m a four-year transfer and that means they can’t tell me anything? Your response does give me hope so I’m definitely going to try again, and try with other schools too. Having answers would help me mentally lol.
I’m in the exact same boat. I dreamed of going to UCLA my 2-3 years in community college and worked so hard for it but when Cal accepted me, I was conflicted because they’re arguably better in some aspects than UCLA. Cal also gave me a really good FAFSA package, if it comes down to it, it’ll be between UCLA and Cal, and who gives me more money.
There are a few reasons people think it’s tomorrow, mainly past years’ decision dates but also alleged insider info from the university and the prediction from Mrs. Sun, which is a UC advisory website (not some lady, lol). Check out ‘UC Decisions Become Available’ on the askmrssun transfer application timeline for that “source”, can’t post links here apparently
