I’ve never been to UC Berkeley that’s why I’m so hesitant to go there ?. But UCLA is definitely a good choice for you if you wanna feel immersed in the college lifestyle. If you’re into sports, it’s also great as well as they have a huuuuuuge field for student club sports. I used to go there every Friday just to play soccer, then walk to the chick fil a or the in and out. The people are so friendly too. This girl I met over there brought me to the cafeteria and bought me food on the same day using her meal plan. Easily the best cafeteria food I’ve ever had.
@cali2good honestly Berkeley is not for everyone!!! I love the Bay Area but the surrounding area of the campus can be sketchy. I never feel comfortable when I’m there alone but still nothing beats the feeling of being in the Bay but I want to leave and experience socal for a while
That’s definitely something I’ve been thinking about regarding Berkeley. Coming from SoCal (specifically Orange County) where everything is sorta sheltered/safe, it would be such a transition for me!
Hmm okay, so I took AP Calc BC and got a 5, so I tested out of that. I’m currently in Managerial Accounting and English - I’m a one year transfer so I couldn’t take Financial and Managerial together. Should I appeal UCSB, and do my two classes negatively affect me for UCLA?
There’s parts of SoCal that are just like that, USC is actually pretty sketch since it’s more in the “hood” area so I’m guessing it’s similar to USC. Which isn’t that bad tbh, just gotta know your way around.
Yeah, I agree, but LA is pretty different from Orange County I feel like. However there are definitely parts in OC that are considered “sketchy,” like some areas of Santa Ana.
@cali2good I totally agree. I live close to UCB, and while it can be sketchy it is totally manageable. A lot of the ‘sketchy’ people are actually pretty harmless, especially if you ignore them. I worked at a cafe by the school in HS and I was fine. A lot of areas of Berkeley are really nice, especially up in the hills.
Hi everyone! Since decisions for you all come out today, good luck and I hope you all get accepted! Looking through this thread brings back memories of that hardcore anxious feelings before decisions gets released, so I’m really excited to see the next generation of transfers! I hope to welcome you all to the Bruin fam <3
this is so weird, because i usually hear the opposite. people say that berkeley and davis are more college towns where it seems like everyone is a student. meanwhile, the only college feel of ucla comes from the actual school itself since beverly hills and westwood arent full of only college students
@harmanb I’m a one year transfer as well w/ a 4.0 coming from a CC. I didn’t think UCSB admissions were too competitive since a lot of people I know with much lower stats got in. I would try appealing if SD and LA don’t come through. SB primarily looks at pre reqs and gpa for admissions so it wouldn’t make sense why you weren’t accepted.
I just read that %70 of TAP got accepted for fall 2020. Some girl at my CC group page posted a screenshot of the convo between her and someone who was in a zoom meeting w UCLA peeps.
