just curious, what reasons do you guys think some people who get accepted into let’s just say Berkeley or UCLA don’t get accepted into schools like UCSD? I’ve seen stories like that online and was just wondering why. I’m a 4.0 student and got accepted into Berkeley last week, but UCLA and UCSD are my top choices. Really hoping for good news later today but still really nervous.
Honestly, I haven’t seen much luck with one-year transfers. Even those with perfect GPA’s, completed prereqs, and 60+ semester units. I suspect it’s because they want transfers out of there in 2 years instead of 3 years. If they accept too many one-year transfers, it messes with enrollment projections.
I live in L.A, I am quite familiar with Westwood. There is a TON to do out here. Nightlife is very lively and there always seems to be events going on during the weekend. There is a farmers market every wed morning on the promenade. Westwood is the LGBT epicenter of Los Angeles, people are kinda snobby around here too tho as most are people out here have money. Traffic is always bad too, but youll never be bored out here.
Just realized organic chem 1 is REQUIRED for my major. I chose not to take it because most medical schools want to see it done at a University level. This is a bummer! I’m not getting an acceptance. Good luck to everyone else!
Major: Psychobiology
GPA: 4.0 major and overall
Prerequisites: Done except Ochem
i don’t think TAP admitted students are going to be more than normally admitted students. The screenshot just said that 70% of people who did TAP, got in.
im there every month bc my sister goes there and we like to visit her and i see what you mean. i just dont know how much it would seem like a college city compared to somewhere like berkeley.
This makes me wish that I had the chance to visit Berkeley. TBH I never thought I’d even get accepted to Berkeley that’s why I never bothered. And idk why I’m still so nervous about UCLA decision even after getting admitted to Berkeley.
@Bubonica I do not think that is true. A lot of my friends last year got into UCLA UCB and other UC’s as a one year transfer. I think it just matters how strong your application is compared to others
I live near berkeley and stayed near campus every year in high school for speech and debate tournaments and I really didn’t like it. Even the though tournaments were fun, the actual environment gave me such a gloomy vibe and I quickly found out I’d be unhappy there
UCLA is definitely part of the city, but I wouldn’t call it college town. People will definitely know whats up though when you bring up UCLA.
I dormed at UCLA last summer for CC and met a girl who left Berkely because of how depressing it was. She said she got so depressed that it affected her work ethics, so she went to a CC instead in hopes to transfer to another UC.
