UCLA Fall 2021 Transfers

same lol. seeing these other acceptance rates is blowing my mind compared to ours

Anyone know anything about the regular linguistics major? Is it impacted or hard to get in?

Applied as linguistics with a 3.8 :grimacing: keeping my fingers crossed

I’m praying for you! I really do hope we get in!

its not impacted! its actually recommended to comm majors to apply to linguistics instead since it isnt impacted

That’s music to my ears haha thank you!

thank you, you too!! i have a 3.84 so i’m sorta in the middle too which is worryinggg

mine too! fingers crossed for the both of us!

I’m also in the middle, toward the lower end of the 50% range, but the 25th percentile is 3.85, so I really don’t know what to expect.

same here

I honestly didn’t know that the admit rates for majors would factor into our decisions when applying in December lol, and I put Psyche as my alternate major which sucks MAJOR ass because its acceptance rate is even lower than Sociology.

How are your essays and your extracurriculars iyo?

Did anyone else on here apply as an Applied Linguistics major?

ME TOO i had no idea when picking my major that it would even affect the acceptance rate or my chances, and almost did psych as my main major and am sooooo glad i didn’t now, since the rate is sm lower! at least you have an alternate tho, now u feel like u did everything u could!

my essays and ec’s are really good and i also did tap, wbu? those are the only things i can count on to help so i hope they actually looked

3.94 GPA for political science. 39% acceptance rate, but feeling unlikely due to getting denied from UCB

honestly i thought getting into cal would give me more confidence that i’d get into ucla but im still not confident at all

Did you apply to Berkeley? If so, did you get accepted? I thought that my extracurriculars and essays were really good until they rejected me T-T I really hope UCLA is looking for different things

I didn’t do TAP because before I found out about my school’s honors program, I had already completed some major prerequisites.

So honestly, I am scared out of my mind

EDIT: I did get into UCI tho but that’s kinda out of the “league” if you get what I mean

i didn’t, i only applied to UCI (got accepted), UCSD, and UCLA. sorry that you got rejected, although it seems that berkeley has diff things that they look for and that it’s less holistic so i don’t think there will be a correlation necessarily! i think cal pays less attention to things other than grades

I also have a pretty high GPA and was rejected from Cal… made me really worried ab UCLA

My Psychology friend had a 3.5 UC GPA but he got into Berkeley! I heard that a lot of lower-gpa people got in too this year. Which scares me because it doesn’t tell me how qualified I am for UCLA.

Do you think UCLA looks at grade trends? I had a B in my Bio class and a C in my Stats class the first semester, but then got straight A’s for 4 consecutive semesters after that

a lot of applicants this year tho
