I have this same question for the same reasons! (Except the other school is UCD.)
Congratulations. Do you mind sharing her stats?
In-state; 4.0 UW; 5.2 weighted (donāt know her UCLA weighted GPA); 4 yrs varsity sports; 4 yrs robotics; taken and passed 7 AP classes (mostly 4s)+ 4 APs this yr; 150+ volunteer hrs; not first gen or low income.
Accepted - USC, UCSD, UCI, UCSB, Santa Clara, Loyola Marymount, and CSUs.
Rejected - Stanford, Harvey Mudd, UCB
With those stats, Iām shocked to hear she was even waitlisted. Or rejected anywhere? If you donāt mind me asking, where was she committed before getting off the waitlist for Ucla?
havenāt heard anything related to biochem either
We were told Computer Engineering is really competitive. She was committed to USC. I hope she gets housing at UCLA.
Same. Havenāt been able to get into housing portal.
She will definitely get housing ā technically UCLA guarantees 4 years. Most first years end up in triples regardless of what they put first, and we arenāt even a week past the SIR date. I think I recall people who got off the waitlist much later than this during summer 2021 (my sonās year ā heās a current second year at UCLA), and they got housing. Donāt worry, and congrats!
Can you please share why is she picking UCLA over USC for computer engineering?
Not really. UCLA CE has a 2% admit rate from a very competitive applicant pool.
I canāt speak for @UCLACE but, assuming no aid at either school, UCLA tuition (before fees) is $13,752/year. USC tuition (before fees) is $66,640/year. Four years of tuition at UCLA will be $11K less than one year of tuition at USC.
Has anyone heard updates for appeals? I know someone in my school got accepted yesterday from appealing.
Wow, thatās rare. Do you happen to know what the reason for the appeal is? They say they wonāt even consider unless thereās new and compelling information.
Same - my daughter hasnāt been able to sign up for housing and was accepted yesterday off the waitlist.
Trying to figure out the same!
Does anyone have access to the waitlist faq page on their application portal, I recall it said housing, if submitted by the 15th is guaranteed for waitlist applicants. Additionally I wonder if the housing portal functions similarly to the vaccine submission portal that stated that it would be active two business days after the SIR deposit was submitted. Hoping maybe by Tuesday it will be available.
Not really:( I know she was gonna go to uci and she was accepted as a linguistics and philosophy major for ucla yesterday.
Anything today??
The people who got accepted on Saturday from the waitlist, when do they have to accept or decline their decision?
They have 7 days to accept or decline.
