Ucla gpa

I called UCLA admissions yesterday asking about my admitted student contract. They told me that I was supposed to have at least a 3.0 GPA overall AND the current spring semester. I've heard that they only care about the overall GPA and not the spring semester as long as its not a huge drop. Plus, on my contract it says to notify them if I get 3 Cs. I don't understand how someone can get 3 Cs and still have a semester and realistically have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. My major isn't impacted. Help?

i don’t understand your question. you called them and…? are you getting all Cs this semester? certainly you need to go by what the school told you, not what you heard.

I’m sorry for not being clear. I wanted to know if I’ll get recinded if my spring GPA drops below a 3.0 but my overall is above a 3.0? It doesn’t say anything about keeping a GPA at 3.0 or above on my contract.

ah, well i would just ask them that question directly and tell them exactly what you think you are getting. are you failing classes, or getting all Cs?

I’m not getting all Cs. But I have a feeling I might get 2 Cs, 2 Bs, and one A. That’ll drop my semester gpa down below a 3.0. However, I expect my cumulative GPA to remain above a 3.0. Thank you for your reply.

ah, sounds okay. but worth contacting the school. gpa is stupid. sorry you have to deal with all that. such a pain. great that you are passing all your courses. that should be enough.

thank you! I haven’t seen anybody on CC who got rescinded from UCLA for having a GPA below 3.0 for their spring quarter. I called UCLA yesterday and they said that I need a 3.0 for both the semester and overall, but they couldn’t comment on my specific situation. I read on CC that you need a 3.0 overall so I hope that’s the case. :)
