UCLA Housing Payment Plan <food+housing>

Ok so I was allotted like.. 23k or w/e for UCLA financial aid, but I am not eligible for the UCLA Financial Aid Housing plan.

I just assumed I would be, and the 23k is supposed to pay for housing and food right??? I'm just wondering how this all works out. If I got the wrong idea about the section where you pay for housing in the "View Housing etc etc"

for the sake of discussion too I'm going with the 14 Premier plan.

I heard even if you have like 60 swipes before the next quarter you could just go to like the snack stores and pick up like cases of drinks and use up your swipes so it's pretty worth it. Seems like the best in between choice since i'll be swiping friends and 3rd year friends who won't be dorming anymore ;o.

Hey, I chose 14 Premier too! Because sometimes I eat breakfast, and sometimes I don't because I wake up too late. And since they roll over I can just use them for other days that I decided to eat a lot. Haha... Swiping everything for junk at the last minute seems like a good plan too.

They pay for your tuition first, and the remaining will be either sent to your bank account or be sent to your house with a written check. You can use that to pay for the portion of your housing, and whatever it didn't cover, you have to pay for it from your pocket.

Example:
With 23k, you'll probably get three equal payment throughout the year, so let's assume you get 7.6k per quarter.
out of that 7.6k, about 2.5k will be automatically taken out to be used for tuition, so you have 5.1k remaining.
If you have 14 Premier, you'll have to pay about 4k per quarter, so you can use your 5.1k to pay for it, and you'll still have 1.1k remaining for your own use. And you'll probably have to pay around $800 for health insurance, which is required, so you'll have around $300 remaining your first quarter, if I did my math right.

14 Premiere is good. That's what I have right now and if you have tons of swipes left, people just spend it on pizza + chicken wings (6-8 swipes each).

i chose the 14 premier as well.

same situation with the payment plan. i got around 19k, which is more than the total cost of housing. the financial aid option appears in the drop-down menu, but when i try to confirm it says i'm not eligible.

maybe we need to wait for our final aid notices.
