can we get an honest answer on how social the plazas are? if i can’t get the intrusive dorm experience of college for my first year, i’d rather not pay a bajillion dollars to live in a ‘quiet’ apartmentish room.

@ mkcman17- obviously from most social to least social is res hall, plaza, suite.

What im told is that it all depends on you, and the people on your floor to determine what it is like. The girl giving me a tour said that some floors are hanging out all the time and all have the doors open, and other floors are kinda quiet. She lives on the 2 floor and she said everyone from the 3rd floor comes down to her floor because it is much more social. So the social scene is whatever you make of it.

Has anyone opted for the transfer theme community housing ?

I am trying to decide between University apts & Plazas… Anyone in the same boat???

anyone deciding to live in residential halls instead of delta terrace? I’d like to live in the residential halls, but I dont want to be surrounded by freshman. Anyone know there are halls dedicated to transfer students?

I went on a housing tour and, then, I talked to housing “representatives” at Scholar’s Day and they pretty much told me that we do not have any choice but to live in Delta Terrace. This blows. No offense, transfers are cool, but I don’t want to be stuck on the immigrant ship once we arrive at the “New World.”

Also, you can’t bring your car… I repeat you CANNOT bring you car. I talked to transportation and they said we have pretty much a “zero percent chance” of getting parking. The living situation at UCLA is not looking bright.

so pretty much all transfers are in delta terrace and if dorming no chance to bring your whip, great

wait, ***? I thought junior/seniors had the best chance at bringing our cars! if this is true, it’s a complete and total dealbreaker for me. also, I’m not hot on delta terrace either. I feel like this is a misinformed batch of info that is off base. at least I sure hope so.

UCcasualty: Do you know if it’s a “zero percent chance” of getting parking because there’s no space? Or is it a “zero percent chance” of due to them being stingy with the parking permits?

i’ve accumulated 3 parking tickets over the last two months from visiting ucla.

ahck, parking in la stinks…

Whaaaa? I need to take my car!!!

@mkcman
Well, you can go ahead and doubt me but I spoke directly to people who work in housing and transportation.

The guys at transportation handed me all these pamphlets about living in LA without a car, like vanpooling, complete bulls h i t. Oddly enough, UCLA actually has rental cars called zipcars that you only have to be 18 to rent, but they are like $66 a day. F**k that, I own my car, I’m not paying $66 to rent their’s for a day.

When I spoke to the people at housing I asked them what my housing options were because I didn’t want to live in Delta Terrace and I told them that I heard that that is where they were tossing all the transfers and they said, “well, were not “tossing” you guys in there.” Then some guy added, “its just that none of the others [housing options] are available to transfers.” Then he starting rambling about what a great experience being stuck in Delta Terrace was going to be. I just wanted to get all ghetto on him and yell out “Do look li’e some kin’a Delta to you homie, I a motha f**kin’ alpha be-otch.”

nudge nudge Can you answer my question please?

@uccasualty

I wasn’t doubting you, I was doubting the reps. I have heard so many quotes from reps that contradict each other. besides, I have 2 transfer friends in rieber with cars so I call bull*. I’m bringing my mother**** car, even if I have to park it inside powell. **** this ****.

@Mr Oblivious

The only people that they give parking to is people who carpool with like 4 other people, people who commute, or have some kind of medical condition. He said that even then it is still extremely difficult to get parking.

The only way around this seems to be to buy a motorcycle.

Oh man that sucks. I thought that the biggest obstacle was getting the permit. I was offered “guaranteed campus parking” so I thought about taking my car, but now I guess not. Thanks for the info.

man… this sucks. Are the delta terrace rooms at least bigger?

@MrObliv

???.. wait, what?

@alan

Delta Terrace seemed super quite. The rooms were decent size, definitely large enough for 3 and if you had a double you’d have plenty of room.

??? What? (10 char)

I’m so confused… you got parking?
