UCLA Housing Thread

mrobliv is worried about not being able to find a parking space, even if he has a guaranteed parking pass for being a regents scholar

Yeah, I was/am offered “guaranteed campus parking”, whatever that means.

how did you find that out? I NEED parking.

Er…I’m a regents scholar. It’s listed as one of the benefits.

damnit. I figured as much…

Yeah, sorry man =/

^Your not sorry… and I’m not an admiral

is ucla so much better that I should give up covered parking and new dorms? jikswdjhhfjednbc

Look, it’s not my fault there’s no smoking in the terminal building. I don’t make the rules. And yes, I do feel bad that people who “NEED” parking having to suffer through this apparently very bureaucratic process.

^Soooooooo then…

Can I get ride buddy?

I don’t know, I’ll probably be dorming, and it’d be lame to bring a car if I can just walk. But it’d also be a waste of apparently a damn good privilege (which I grossly overlooked). I’ll think about what I’m going to do and report back when I figure out.

but logically, we transfers are the ones who had to pick up jobs and literally work for our education. as it turns out, I had to pay-my-way, and will have to continue working to pay for tuition. am I supposed to get a cab for work? call my parents or friends to pick me up every time? legit.

Shotgun! =p

Oh wow. I did hear the same thing as UCcasualty about the housing and stuff.

My best friend is a regents scholar as well, and she got that “benefit” but she will be living on campus and will probably walk/bus around…that makes me feel horrible. >__<;;

The parking situation is very limited. There simply isn’t enough room for every student’s car. If you have an on campus job you can surely get a car. Or a doctors note w/ medical condition you can get a parking pass through disability services.

Parking is $289 per quarter + summers so $867(3 quarters) + $120 - 240 (depending on staying Sess A & B for summer) over 1 grand. yay go team! That is a lot of money for a car but I still want my car!

I went on the housing tours and asked about where transfers were placed and I was told that the “majority” of transfers ARE placed in Delta Terrace but some are scattered throughout the community… Apparently Delta Terrace has many events catered to new “transfers” to help us transition, meet people etc. haha speed friending…

I guess we’ll have to wait until Jun 3 to see where we are placed. :-/

oops I meant off campus job you can get a parking permit… Not on campus… re: post #135

how do we go about proving we have an off campus job?

I found this article on how they assign parking to be quite helpful. [Student Parking Point System (1003329)](http://map.ais.ucla.edu/go/1003329)

@ what Shawna said…

Personally, I think that is totally gay (what they’re trying to do). What makes them think I need help making friends? I don’t need anyone to hold my hand, I’m a big boy now.

They can help me transition by letting me keep my car without taking an arm and I leg and having me beg them to do it.
