Thanks, TennisDude29!

I have no idea what MUN is, but MESA stands for Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement. It’s a club/program where you’re basically given a bunch of projects sometime in the beginning of the year to work on in the club so you can compete against other schools at the end of the year. You can win awards and stuff in the competition, and if your project is good then it can reach regionals and maybe nationals(?).

Projects include the mousetrap car, egg drop, civil structures (building a bridge), prosthetic arm, etc. idk if you want to look those up.

MESA was offered as a club at my school.

@TennisDude29

MUN is Model United Nations- It’s kind of like Debate, and you go to different conferences to compete against different schools. You represent countries and work in a committee to solve problems! MUN is offered as a club as my school, and so is MESA.

wow, that sounds amazing! that’s the kind of club i wished were at my school. there’s literally nothing for me here, and i’m realizing now what a disadvantage it is to me to not even be given the chance for these clubs… oh and i looked up MUN, its Model United Nations, another cool club offered at some of the actually decent schools around.

dang that sounds pretty fun too haha. too bad, i feel like that probably would’ve helped me out here…

so, does anyone know if there’s another wave of emails to be sent out to rising seniors? or if a rising senior hasn’t been sent an email yet, is it safe to assume they’re on the waiting list?

Ohhh so I guess there is Model UN at my school too. It’s just that nobody’s ever called it MUN, lol.

I have no idea about the emails thing, but yeah you could assume you’re on a waiting list if you want. There’ll be people who receive the email and reject the offer because they got into another program they prefer over HSSRP.

I think as long as we haven’t been sent a rejection letter, we still have a chance at both admittance/waiting list! I talked to a friend who went last year, she said she got in two weeks before the camp started and she got off the waiting list. There’s still hope! :D

hahaha well, that’s better than nothing I suppose! really wish I knew how this was working though. I feel like this year might be different from last year, for precisely the reason that people were finding out they were going two weeks prior to the camp! after a couple days, maybe i’ll email mr. herrera? but ok, I guess all there is to do now is wait…

did anyone also apply to tech camp?

Two weeks before…if that were me I would actually be really surprised LOL

Now that I think abou it, there have actually been some old HSSRP threads showing students who receive their email in June haha

@Moonroll

For context on June acceptance emails, the application deadline in past years has been April 15th, not March 15th.

Oh ok. That would make sense then.

did anyone get a rejection letter or is it just a huge waiting list? sorry i’m really not trying to sound pessimistic i’m so confused because i didn’t get any sort of information about what’s going on with hssrp right now

@crazyboutbio

The committee has selected 60 students as initial selections, whose applications will be sent to and reviewed by the individual departments before formal offers are made to the 60 students. The initial selections have been notified that they’re initial selections but have not received formal offers of acceptance. No rejections will be sent out until all 60 spots are confirmed to be filled.

This is coming from an initial selection student.

DraconicSheep, if you don’t mind, what are your stats?

I don’t know about you all, but not getting anything at all feels worse than getting a rejection…nows it’s just anxiety, waiting, and hope.

But, there will probably be a few people who don’t claim their spots for one reason or another.

Congrats to you two though :D

@Draconicsheep or moonroll, Would you mind posting when you receive the official acceptance email?

Thanks and congrats!

Thanks, and yeah sure!

A friend of mine called William Herrera and he said that all the emails were sent out but only to juniors, so no rising juniors were initially selected.

he also said that he would be sending out another set of emails about a week/week and a half from April 18 to rising juniors because typically a lot of initially selected applicants decline their spot

raiders97…do you happen to know when waitlist results will come out for rising seniors?

So if your an initial selection, and you reply with an intent of participating in the program, its basically a guarantee?
