UCLA HSSRP internship

^draconic sheep: do you debate on the national circuit?

to answer your question, i’m mostly just doing some local internships.

Yeah, for LD. I haven’t traveled out of state yet since it’s pretty expensive.

Tried calling in, but I kept getting voicemail. Did you guys have any luck with it?

^same. called twice and noone answered. the secretary outside said that he’s usually in his office after 10 am, so probably just not answering…

It’s out!!

What? Where?

Check your email

I haven’t received anything yet, ughhh.
Was the email from Mr. Herrera or a faculty advisor?

Mr. Herrera

Likewise, I didn’t receive anything.

What exactly is out, the waitlist?

^puzzlesolver, from looking at previous posts by him, was an initial selection. i’m guessing final selection is out or something?

Yea final selection is out, unless people from those final selection drop out.

^can you post the email?

I made the initial selection but haven’t received the final selection email. The only word I heard from them has been about my financial aid . Which means that I did get in or they wouldn’t even bother about it.

^ Did you get financial aide?

Yes , I did get financial aid.

How does the finial selection email look like anyways?

Okay so I called and william told me that it is taking a bit longer than expected to make the final decisions. He said it was because a professor has to pick us 1st but it’s taking them a while due to finals and such. He will send us a notification by friday if they don’t make a decision by then. So keep your hopes up!

So, to clarify, there are some professors that simply haven’t chosen which applicants they want yet and everyone that applied for that professor’s discipline is fair game? And, for those professors that have picked, their choices became the initial selections?

Or, is it that there are professors that still must choose but are choosing between the applicants that are already chosen as initial selections?

Yeah they are choosing from the initial selection 1st. Initial selection people are not guaranteed a spot but they have a greater chance of getting in since the professors gets to read their applications 1st and they are recommended by william. The initial selection of course is the most qualified so it is not likely that they won’t get picked but you never know. So for the 60 people at least one professor has to you but if you are not then you get rejected.
