I'm an intercampus transfer applicant from UCSC and, when calling all the UC's I applied to in an effort to figure out course articulation, learned that of all the lower division Politics courses at UCSC (called Politics here, not Political Science), only 1 would satisfy a pre-req for UCLA Political Science. UCLA's Poli Sci major requires transfer students to take 4 Poli Sci courses, out of 5 various areas, and a statistics course. I've been able to recently confirm that the statistics course at UCSC, AMS 5, does satisfy the stat pre-req for UCLA Poli Sci.

My overall gpa is a 3.98, so it's a bit higher than the average admitted GPA for UCLA Poli Sci. But, I only have 2/5 pre-reqs completed because that's the most possible at UCSC. In short, even though I've taken a number of politics courses, including ones in each of the 5 fields noted by UCLA, I have only satisfied two pre-reqs for the major.

According to the Profile of Admitted Transfer Students, published by UCLA and found at (Transfer Major Prep - Political Science - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions), Poli Sci transfer applicants must have completed at least 3/5 pre-reqs to even be CONSIDERED for the major. I've called UCLA Admissions about this issue and each time the answer they give me is not that clear, to no fault of their own; there seems always be confusion on both my end and theirs how the required 3/5 pre-reqs applies to me, given that only 2 are offered at UCSC.

I've searched on CC, but cannot seem to find somewhat recent threads in which a user was in a situation similar to mine. So, does anyone know to what degree I'll be negatively affected by my lack of pre-reqs? I've been assuming that I'll be rejected not only due to lack of pre-reqs but also due to UCLA's statement that I need 3/5 pre-reqs to even be considered for admission to Poli Sci. So, like I said, does anyone have any insight regarding this situation?

Thanks!
