Prerequisite Issues!!

Hey all, I am a Political Science major hoping to transfer to UCLA Fall 2016. I have posted a few times on transfer threads because I am paranoid and terrified that I won’t get in! I am currently missing two prerequisites, one is Politics and Strategy which is NOT offered at ANY community college in the state at California so I’m not exactly worried about not having that one, but I had originally listed on my UC app that I was going to take a statistics class at another community college to fulfill the statistics prerequisite. I already took a statistics class that ended up not fulfilling the stats prereq, but I thought that taking this class would give me a better chance. I ended up not making the cut on the wait-list and no other professor of the course would take me. Will UCLA find cause to reject me for this?

Summary:

That being said, I have a 3.95 grade point average
I have my IGETC finished
I finished 4 of 6 prereq’s (one of which is not offered at any school so technically 4 of 5)
I work 2 jobs, one is related to my major
I have a solid 20 hours a week of volunteer activities
My essays are average
I do not qualify for TAP
I also do not have any honors courses

Please tell me my realistic chances at UCLA with my stats if you can!

Thank you

I was worried about statistics last year because it was the only prereq that I needed. I called UCLA admissions last summer and asked about the need for Stats and whether or not I would be qualified to apply without it and was told that I would not be able to transfer without it (which was crazy!) BUT!! You can still sign up for Stats through UCLA extension if you live in the area! I did it and it was a breeze! I would strongly recommend you look into it if you want to transfer otherwise you might be looking at another semester at CC until its complete.

…also aside from not having met the required math course you do look very competitive! I would def call the admissions office or see a counselor to get more info about the prereq issues. Good luck!!

I do have a math course that qualifies for IGETC, it’s a different statistics class that just doesn’t articulate as “statistics” to UCLA. I live in North County in San Diego, so could I qualify for the extension course? I totally would not mind driving up there if it meant that I would get to go to UCLA in the fall.

why not call UCLA admissions, like the other person did, and ask them directly?

I called them a few times and they told me that they couldn’t help me.

EDIT: I called and got a helpful person! She told me to just note on my additional comments that my community college does not offer it and it would not be feasible to travel to another community college to take the class and then just hope from there.
