UCLA Libraries/Study Rooms

Hi,

I'll be attending SMC in 2007 but living much closer to UCLA. Can I use the UCLA libraries or study rooms? I'm not so much interested in borrowing books, but more in finding a good place to study. Also, can I use Night Powell?

I know that Night Powell is open only for UCLA students, but do they really check your ID? Or are there any other good study places I could use at night?

Thanks!

I am sure you can go in during the daytime...but night powell requires you to swipe in your bruin card...if I am not mistaken

Thank you!

So, how exactly does that work? Can't I just go in there before the official night opening hours (11pm) and stay there?

you could, but you obviously couldnt come and go.

they also have a security guard in the rotunda who checks ids.

I believe if you're in the library before the night hours are, you should be fine. That's pretty intense though, are you planning on living at the library? I've yet to spend more than an hour there at a time.

What part of Germany are you from?

Thank you

So theoretically I could go there before the night hours are and leave with another UCLA student (I don't wanna spend the whole night there ;p) ?

Are there any other good study places in Westwood I could use at night?

@bfired2:
I'm from western Germany, near Cologne ;)

I don't know about other places, but I must warn you that Night Powell is very crowded. Sometimes there aren't any vacant seats, maybe it's because of midterms? I wonder why they don't just keep other parts of the library open til midnight?

It's only bad during midterms and finals. Sometimes it's completely deserted.

Very cool, I have a friend who lives in Hamburg. He's a Hamburger! hah.
