I did some research and I don’t think the UC Berkeley College of Engineering sends out likely letters to engineering applicants. However, there is a strong correlation between getting admitted into UCLA and getting admitted into Berkeley for engineering applicants, but no guarantee.

I just received the Engieering Open House Invitation letter. It’s probably a likely letter. Anyone else receives the email?

I got the letter this year about an hour ago. It looks exactly the same as the one in 2010, even the date. Now I wonder if I am really in… I am out of state with low SAT (lower 1900s) /gpa. No good ECs. My senior year GPA is great, but they don’t look at it. My Recommendation letters are amazing, but I don’t think UCs look at them either. I didn’t even complete my first semester of sophomore year (still taking online classes to recover the credits)
Maybe I can be the first one to be rejected after getting this letter. idk.

why would they be sending letter like these 2 days before the official decisions date? makes no sense to me.

i got this email last week.

got it tonight after I got my acceptance letter from University of Washington this morning. This is too much for me too handle at the moment, but I’m pretty excited

Do letters and science majors get likely letters ?

^

No, your only indicator of surefire acceptance would be Regents. If you get an Alumni invite, there’s some certainty that you’ll be accepted but it’s not 100%.

thanks uc dreams!

I didnt get the invite for this event. does this mean that i have not got into UCLA?

^
No, plenty of people are accepted without a likely letter or a Regents/Alumni invite. These are given out to who UCLA deems are the top applicants, and it’s comforting to know beforehand that admission is guaranteed, but it’s a small pool and I want to say most people who get accepted don’t receive these.

I got the email too, on March 11.

for anyone wondering:
2330 / 34 / 4.3 / 3.9

I just got one last night!

3.85 UW, 4.2 UC, 2320

AA, congrats. I have similar stats(4.0uw, 4.5 uc, 2320, top 1%, 10 APs) and have not received any likely yet.

quick question for everyone who got the letter this year, did your letter mention anything about an open house for the specific discipline that you applied to?

Mine did not. It just said something about the general session at 9:00 and then something like “immerse yourself in department-specific, etc.” I believe last year the letters specifically listed the major you were admitted to.

^ same here, I wonder if that means something or if they just don’t mention it specifically anymore.

to those who will be fretting about the likely letter 50 some weeks from now. I got a likely and I got in!
