Engineering in general, (I have not decided yet) which college should I attend?

I am out-of-state for all

For UCLA, I got into 'Mechanical Engineering'
For UCSD. I got into 'Engineering Science'
For UIUC, I got into 'Engineering Physics'
For GaTech, I got into 'Electrical Engineering'

I know that it is very hard to change my major in UCLA. I don't know about the other ones.

And, I think there is a great chance of me changing my major inside the Engineering field (which will not be easy if I go to UCLA).

For jobs and graduate schools, which college do you guys recommend me to go??

Actually, UCLA is probably the easiest of the top UC's to change your major in engineering. This was confirmed with professors, counselors and current students. We were evaluating Cal,UCLA,UCSD very extensively. I wouldn't go to a UC as an out of stater. If you've read some other posts, UC's are probably going to jump the tuition for this coming year $3000 and the likely probability of going up to $18,000/yr for an in-stater with a few years. California is in a financial mess and UC's and Cal States are going to suffer. So go to UIUC or Georgia Tech.

UIUC
Tuition and fees $26,024 - $30,176*
Books and supplies $1,200
Room and board (20 meals/week) $8,764
Other expenses ** $2,510
TOTAL ESTIMATED COSTS $38,498 - 42,650*

GA Tech
Tuition $23,770
Mandatory Student Fees $1,230
Books and Supplies $1,000
Housing and Meal Plan $7,800
Personal Expenses $1,500
Total Per Year $35,300

UCLA was about $42K

The cost is not a big factor.
I want a college with more internship opportunities, scholarship opportunities (for out-of-state), easier to get good grades, and the one that graduate schools prefer.

From what I have heard, Urbana-Champaign is a rural area.
Will I be able to find internships there? During.. perhaps, summer? If I were to take summer courses....

For, LA or Atlanta, it is very urban, and for sure, there will be many internship opprotunities available.....
But, I don't know about Urbana-Champaign...
If I want internship opportunities (assuming that I go to UIUC), would I have to go to the Silicon Valley??

Yes. Just because its located in rural area doesn't mean it won't get any internships. UIUC even has a research park funded by major companies such as Yahoo!, which allows students to get internships or co-op on campus with relative ease.

Just becasue the acceptance rates are higher at GTech and UIUC, it does not make the schools less selective. UCLA recieved 55,000 applicants this year, so they just have a larger pool of applicants to select from. If you compare the average SAT scores, GTech actually has the highest average, closely followed by UIUC and UCLA. Acceptance rate and selectivity are different things, please try not to confuse yourself.

Are you KIDDING me? Tech is one of the top 10 engineering schools in the world, like UI. I seriously doubt that reputation is a huge factor here because they are both equally great schools.

I have a sister who went to GT. The BIG advantage over UI, which she experienced, was the ease with which she transitioned into her job after graduating. She's working in ATL right now after graduating as an industrial engineer. I think that Tech has a lot more to offer you after college, mostly because it's smack dab in the middle of ATL.

There is a strong alumni network for UIUC in Silicon Valley which is the hub of most engineering jobs. GT is in the South. Maybe more graduates from GT prefer to stay in the South.

Comlumbia_Student? (saying UIUC has better job opportunities)
or TAdd? (who says GA Tech has better)!!!!

Dilemma! (I am not a kind of person who cares how the campus looks and feels.. I am deciding the college based on how well I will be seen by the time I graduate..

All the schools you listed are comparable. Engineering wise, UIUC and GaTech has a slight edge over Madison, but UW-M also has a solid engineering school with more lively campus (or so I hear). My honest opinion is that you won't get a absolute yes or no answer on this board. Decide the school you want to go for yourself.
