Communication Studies at UCLA is the highest impacted major and has a very small population of students accepted each year (less than 100). USC's Annenberg School of Communication on the other hand takes more people but is a better known program.

Even though it is extremely competitive to get into UCLA's Comm Studies program that doesn't necessarily mean it's the best. Do you think it would be better to go to USC in the long run considering the status of our states budget? Because the UC's are already facing a lot of cuts and i believe in addition to that the first programs to get the most cuts are the smaller "impacted majors" because they run on such a small budget.

So UCLA or USC in this case?

I don’t get what you are asking. Are you applying to both the schools or are you accepted to both trying to choose which one to go to?

If you got into both then, “the competitiveness” to get in should not be worried about then.

As far as budget cuts, as long as people are graduating on time, it doesn’t make a difference.

If you are till trying to decide which one to APPLY to then, obviously it would be both.

First, both programs are good so go with the school which will be less $$.

If costs are close to the same, I vote for USC. Better networking and Comm has it’s own school, it’s not just a dept like at UCLA.

I’m into both of them, and yea the cost for me would be like 2k more only to go to usc. I just like how usc has an actual like school for it. But I really like uclas campus better

USC’s alumni program, especially for Annenberg, will make getting a job in your field much more in your reach. Although UCLA is a great school, USC loves their Comm students and made their own school for it for a reason.

i’d probably pick USC. While originally i’d say UCLA, the fact that fees might rise might make them equal the same amount of money, and while you’d no doubt get top notch professors, you’d probably get better ones at USC. all in all, figure out if you’re cool with spending an additional 8k, if you’re fine with it, then no doubt, pick USC.
