Hey Everyone,
I am really freaking out because I just got a letter in the mail today saying I was placed on a provisional contract, and that I had to get B’s or better in my two summer classes this semester- a 0.5 unit soccer class and a 3.0 unit critical thinking English class. The thing is, I dropped the soccer class about a week ago due to a medical reason, and I switched to a different critical thinking English class that satisfies the same requirement under the IGETC (IGETC is already completed btw). I reported these changes yesterday, but I am still scared that they are going to rescind my admission. Is it possible that they are going to offer me a revised provisional admission contract or will they just take my offer away completely? I don’t think I even need these classes for my major (MIMG). I have also emailed them my situation but still haven’t heard back yet. Any input is greatly appreciated!
This makes no sense. How can IGETC be complete if you’re taking English area 1b in summer? Are you taking another English area 1b course just for the heck of it?
Re the .5 unit soccer, I really think that will not be a deal-breaker.
Switching to another Critical Thinking course that fulfills the same requirement you already completed and yet signed up for again, well, assuming it’s essentially the same class, I would tend to think they will be ok with it. But I’m not the admissions office, so my opinion means nothing. You need to let them know.
You now need to get a B in the summer course, or you seriously could be rescinded. Why did you sign up for these classes if you already fulfilled IGETC and had your 60 transferable units?
You want my opinion – Ask them if you can drop English and just do no summer courses at all.
I agree ^
The .5 Soccer thing isn’t a problem, specially if you mention you dropped it because of medical reasons.
Could you explain the IGETC English class thing though?
Hey sorry for the confusion. I already completed another 1b igetc course (psych 145). I am only taking this class so that I can keep my student worker status on campus.
Oh, then you should be fine.
Just make sure to get a B or above.
It’s always difficult when you’re only taking one class anytime because there’s a lot of pressure if you need a 3.0. If you haven’t fulfilled your P/NP limit and it’s not too late, you could see if the UC will allow it P/NP and switch out.
