UCLA rejected too. So far rejection from UCSD, UCLA. Waitlisted at UC Davis...

Yes. I hope so. But the results drive me crazy… Even Boston University doesn’t offer me admission…

I am sorry to hear that… I attended a high school in Asia before so i totally understand your situation. And honestly i think your GPA is quite high for Asian high school standard…
But there must be some colleges that will see your real ability! Wish you luck!

rejected too! 4.18 uc gpa and 29 act
(i was expecting it though) lol

@bboyed Thanks. I feel very depressed now. I think I don’t deserve to get into a college in America because my high school is in China… :(:(:(:(:(:frowning: I have no idea what to do

Realistically, you should have focused on applying more to lower UC’s–Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara, Davis, Merced, Riverside. Out of that list you only applied to Davis. Take a look at the accepted/rejected lists. Even kids with 4.2+ GPAs and 2100+ SATs are being wait listed and rejected. I agree that you seem on par with Davis, but with increasing applications you just never know, which is why you should focus on the lower UCs. Perhaps you will get off the wait list at Davis :slight_smile:

Your GPA is just not high enough for SD, LA, and Cal. Your SAT is marginal, but it’s not high enough to make up for the gpa.

If you cant afford the private school to which you were accepted, go to a CCC and transfer. There is absolutely no shame in doing so and I have no doubt you will be able to transfer to a UC. You’ll save a ton of money, too!

Why even Boston University rejected me??? :(:frowning: I have no idea

My GPA and SAT score is higher than yours. And I got rejected by UCLA - which i was expecting. I did get into BU though - which I probably am not taking.

You need to recalibrate your expectations. you should not be so dejected about being rejected by UCLA. Look at the stats of other people getting in.

Man. What about SAT Subject Tests? I have 800 Math II and 800 Physics… :(:(:(:(

Math and Physics subject tests can’t make up for an overall low gpa and sat. GPA and SAT are the primary determining factors.

Is there any colleges that will emphasize on SAT Subject test?

There are test optional schools and schools where you have the option of submitting three subject tests instead of the sat. I’m not sure which ones but I’m sure the search function or google would find some of them. That said, for a school that just looks at subject tests you would probably need some sort of humanities subject test to balance out the math and physics.

I know. But I don’t think I will apply those colleges… :(:(:(:(

@MYMOO…you are in a tough spot as you have a non-traditional hs. I’d focus on that Waitlist for UC Davis. That is your best chance really, and appeal UC Berkeley (if you dont get in). Subject tests are not considered in UC admission. you need to meet the other requirements which in your case is strange as your high school was in China.
I also think you should go to Community college and do really well and transfer to UCLA or Berkeley in junior year, if nothing else works out. Really that is not a bad option.

@MYOMOO, you should appeal. I have stats similar to yours and I was also rejected by UCLA, and I am planning to appeal. UCLA reports only a 3% acceptance rate of the appeals, but you really have nothing to lose. At the very least, it will force them to re-evaluate their decision. With over 72,000 apps received, it is no wonder that some of us were overlooked. Not everyone has these super high stats that the folks on this website report. UCLA itself shows averages of UC GPA 4.38, UW GPA 3.88, SAT 2042, ACT 30 for this years admitted class. I had 31 ACT and 2020 SAT and 3.71 UW GPA, so I’m real close to the average. Don’t listen to folks who insist that you need a 2300 SAT, etc. more…

Take a look at this page from UCLA regarding 2012 admissions:
[FAQ - Denied Freshmen - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/faq/FR_Not_Adm.htm)

There is a lady who helps people with the appeal process. She is called “AskMsSun” and her website is: [■■■■■■■■■■■■ - Appeal Service](http://■■■■■■■■■■■■/appeal.htm). She charges $378 and helps review your appeal to make it better before your submit.

She has also posted last year with some very helpful information - see:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/berkeley-2015/1110258-2011-uc-berkeley-appeals.html</a></p>

Finally, here is a template she provided:
"I offer a free appeal template that will help you structure your appeal letter. You may download it at <a href="http://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■/docs/FroshAppeal.doc">http://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■/docs/FroshAppeal.doc</a>"</p>

Let me know how it goes. I hope we both get in and I hope to see you this fall at UCLA.

i got into UCLA with a 1310

^there is probably more to your story. First gen? Underperforming school? Questbridge? URM? Athlete? There are 20 other things that would have worked…but it is not fair to just put a line and make others feel bad.

I saw you on another forum… you didn’t meet the A-G requirements I think, yes? I’m sure you are very intelligent but being waitlisted at Davis is good if you haven’t met those A-G requirements. They aren’t hard reqs to meet (over here, in the US at least) so I’m sure most UCs won’t give your application much consideration if you haven’t met their bare minimum requirements. All I can say is, good for you if you got waitlisted without even meeting the requirements… you must be really smart.

PS: I have like an 1800 SAT and like, 27 on my act. Not sure how I got in, but I don’t think its because they didn’t think that you wouldn’t succeed there. :)

@ucmadness

I will appeal with my father’s medical documentation showing him disabled and my four-year HS transcript so that I will meet A&G requirement! I hope I will successfully appeal.

@missamanda1295
I hope to get into a UC very much!!!
