I had in mind for awhile now that I would take Mandarin Chinese classes at UCLA because I figured it'd be a good compliment to my business Economics major. I have also been interested in Russian, and have been teaching myself Russian or a bit now (I know the basics of Russian but I know no Chinese at all). This weekend, I heard about the Russian Flagship program at UCLA, and it sounds like an amazing experience and an opportunity that would be unfortunate to miss out on. But it would mean I wouldn't be able to make Mandarin Chinese my double major... so now I don't know what to take!

So what should I know about the flagship program for Russian to better make a decision? How useful would Russian be in getting me a job, and how applicable would it be to a job in economics? How globalized is the language? I would figure that Chinese would be much more useful and convenient in landing me a job, but if Russian is equally as useful, I would do the flagship in a heartbeat (since, to my knowledge, there is no such program for Chinese at UCLA, right? And would it be impossible to take both if I chose to?)

Please, nay information would help! thanks
