UCLA students

i just want honest opinions.

i hate LA, and judging by the types of people i've seen and met, i dont really think i'd enjoy living in LA or dealing with LA folks.

BUT UCLA is a good school and i want to keep an open mind.

so i'm here hoping you guys can prove my judgement wrong

so is the UCLA student body really all that diverse? or would i struggle with the rich, spoiled, materialistic socal type? is there a typical student? lets face it, some schools have a typical student stereotype...

are there enough down to dearth, friendly people to outweigh the fake type?

once again...

LA is not anymore fake than wherever you're from. I actually think its pretty real here, considering the diversity of people racially, backgrounds, belief. also people here are very accepting and open. Small town America is the most fake anyway

which brings me back to UCLA which has very few LA people anyway, its mostly nor cal, which is who you're interacting with.

the environment is hectic and intense, can you handle that?

you cant stereotype a person as "la" because everyone is different. whatever youre looking for, youll find it.

No, there is no typical student... it is very diverse (though, not necessarily racially diverse). You will find all kinds of people here. The only similarity I can think of amongst the students here is that for the most part, they did well in HS. Don't worry about finding your niche.

You'll fit in just fine. Don't think too much of it.

Don't worry, you'll learn how to be fake like everyone else....you are a product of your environment.

there are like 40,000 people, how can you not fit in somewhere? btw, UCLA is not fake and most of the students and faculty are really nice and down to earth.

I spent my entire summer in LA and found the people to be no different than the ones I deal with in lovely Texas. And no, in Texas we don't ride horses to school, I've never cow-tipped before, and no, I'm not a hick.

^ You've got to love stereotypes.

I kinda agree with ilovecalifornia... the general population IS slightly more "rich/spoiled/materialistic" than what I'm used to. But yeah, like everyone else said, there's 40,000 students here, so you're bound to find your type in there somewhere. You just gotta know where to look. Join clubs, organizations, floor gov, or whatever. Find people with the same interests as you.

As for me, I admit- I like UC Irvine's population of students better to my taste

Are you Asian?

very good guess, flopsy

i bet his last name is wang, too.

cuz faking isnt a very good bet.

I personally love UCLA.....i found that the people here are actually less materialistic and image-oriented than back home (from SF)

io think flopsy was asking if the OP was AzN

lol almost everyone here is less spoiled and materialistic than from back home :)

^agreed except sorotity girlss

haha mariopuzo, I'm a girl btw.

even the sorority girls lololol
