UCLA Supplemental Questionnaire

Has anyone received a supplement from UCLA? I am curious because I am hoping to get one; I already got one from Berkeley. Thanks.

If a campus sends you the supplement, then (I’m assuming you don’t have a disability or an extraordinary talent) that means you’re a borderline applicant. So getting one is not necessarily a good sign–or it’s a chance to prove yourself, depending on whether you’re an optimist or a pessimist.

sometimes not the case. sometimes the legitimately want more info. Just do well on it if you get it because it will decide if you get in.

Haven’t heard from any students about the UCLA one. I believe the campus will issue one this year, but I know from past years that they can come out quite a bit later (sometimes as late as late January/early February).

Does anyone know if this supplemental questionnaire comes in the postal mail or email form?

Buttafly, what’s your major?

I have a friend who told me that he got some kind of supplement questionaire from UCLA that was very long. He said something about how he had to write a few essays and answer some questions about his major. I never received one, so I was kind of confused on what he was talking about. lol :P

I am a psychology major. I see the supplement as a good thing because my gpa is not very high.

The supplemental questionnaire should come by email. Now I’m wondering if the campus will issue one. The waitlist was implemented (quite suddenly) last year, so that might become the go-to “backup plan” (the waitlist statement can be used as the “supplement” if the student so choose).

UCLA gives you until 11:59 PM 7 days after receipt to submit it, and you may make changes until your deadline. Good luck everyone! :-)

UCLA uses really generic questions in its supplemental questionnaire, so how you respond will really depend on your situation. I’d happy to analyze your UC application and guide you through responding the questionnaire if you want to use my service: [■■■■■■■■■■■■ - Supplemental Questionnaire Service](http://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■/suppquest.htm).

If you don’t want to use my service, you need to go back to look at your UC application and determine what may have prompted the questionnaire and respond accordingly.

For the talent and achievement question, you want to stress your accomplishments and give as much background information as possible - this is particularly important if your talent/achievement is rare and/or requires some explanation to those unfamiliar with it. Be sure to provide contextual information (for example, explain what the “region” is for a regional award you received and spell out city names and/or any acronyms). If the pursuit of your talent/achievement has impeded your academic/school performance, you will want to address that as well.

For the hardship and educational preparation program question, you want to address any obstacles that have prevented you from achieving your full academic/extracurricular potential or provide details of special programs in which you have participated.

Should we answer both questions? I am going to answer the dissadvantaged question, but I don’t have any jaw dropping accomplishments. Should I just talk about an award I won for my community service? Thanks.

I didn’t get one. :frowning: Is that a bad thing? Am I pretty much rejected???

Holy crap I haven’t received anything either. Now I’m freaking out.

Is it for both instate and out of state applicants?

did you guys who received the supplemental questions also receive an email about applying for alumni scholarships? my friend did, but I don’t know if it means anything.

^ I just got that alumni email too. I don’t think it means anything, I believe they send it to all applicants.
