UCLA tackles Cal at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on Saturday, October 29.

I am trying to figure out the details, like if I want to purchase tickets in general admission or student seat section. So, my question is: Will students get a ride on a bus to Rose Bowl? Will parents get a ride on the same bus (if there is one)? Also, what exactly time is the game? (I cannot find it on parents' weekend website)

Yea, students get to go on a bus that takes them to the Rose Bowl.

If they still use paper tickets, then you might be able to get away with going on the bus as a parent. But if they have started to look at the BruinCards, then it probably won’t be possible.

I think it is a 12:30 game but that could change.

I believe you buy your tickets through the Parent Weekend website. I am pretty sure it also says that you must arrange your own transportation to the game. We have gone twice to the game on Parents weekend. the first time we rode on a bus with our daughter that was arranged by her sorority for Dad’s Day. There were just sorority girls and parents on the bus. The second time we went we drove our car as the bus ride really isn’t that much fun. If you are driving to Parents weekend (we usually do even though it is a 7 hour drive from the Bay Area) then you should drive your car. I am not sure there is any transportation for parents offered. Maybe you son/daughter could check into it for you. As far as the game time I don’t think it is on the Parents weekend site. You may want to look for it through the athletic dept site.

I would ordinarily say the game will probably start at 12:30, but this year it seems like they’ve been scheduling most of them at 7:30 p.m.

People who had tickets to the game (non-students) used to be able to take the student bus to the game. Don’t know if that’s the same these days.

If you drive, the best place to park is at the Parson’s building ($12) in old town Pasadena and take the free shuttle to the game and back. That’s what most people who do not have season parking passes do. Just remember, it is time consuming taking the shuttle back to Parsons – long lines, so either leave the game a few minutes early or take a bathroom break before getting in the line!

[Shuttle, Drop Off, Public and Accessibility Transportation at the Rose Bowl](<a href=“Rose Bowl Stadium”>Rose Bowl Stadium)

Your student’s ticket will be on his/her bruincard (it’s a swipe). You can purchase tickets either through the parents’ weekend website, or online thru stub hub or ticketmaster. Or right at UCLA. Or even at the box office at the stadium. It will NOT be sold out.

Depending on what GA ticket you get, you may or may not be near the student section, which is located on the northside bruins 30 yard line. Although you’re not supposed to sit in the student section, you can (usually) get by the staff and sit there.

My suggestion is get there early and go with your student to the Chancellor’s Tailgate party. Yes, it costs $35/pp in advance, but includes food & drink, the opportunity to meet Chancellor Block and his wife, meet a bunch of UCLA alumni and students, and hear some of the marching band and yell team do their thing. Lots of fun and one of the few places you can get alcohol unless you bring your own (none is served inside the bowl).

It starts 3 hours before the game, so you can get there early before traffic hits the area, unwind and enjoy the spirit.

I’ll be there, along with my son, who will be coming down from Cal for the game, and my husband (we’re both UCLA alums).

The UCLA football game starts at 4 PM on Saturday,Oct 29 (during parents weekend)

Cal got trampled by USC last week but its still a long shot for us. Here’s hoping for an upset :D

Well, after UCLA’s painful showing this past Thursday, a “long shot” is pretty optimistic.

yeah…I’ve been going to games every year and I hoped we would get better over time. Looks like its rebuilding time again…no offense/no defense/no coaching. Only bright spot is Hundley. I cant imagine how much alumni donations we are losing

Don’t expect to win or really enjoy the game. Just have fun spending time with your kid and his friends. UCLA got manhandled by a 1-5 Arizona team who doesn’t even have a coach. Sad.

I’m going to have to take exception to the remark “Don’t expect to win or really enjoy the game” – well, certainly the latter part about not enjoying the game.

Maybe I’m in a minority, but win or lose, I enjoy the game. It’s great fun watching the students – whether they be on the field in uniforms, on the side line cheering and dancing, whether it’s the band playing some awesome, spirited song, whether it’s the alumni section complaining (but still coming out – after all, we’ve been underdogs for years!). Now, with the new indian food stand around tunnel 12 or the dippin’ dots, even if the Bruins suck, the fan spirit is still there and the food is yummy!

The price of Parent’s Weekend - about $90.
A Dad spree of coffee mugs, shirts, shoes, hats, pens, etc etc in the bookstore - $8,000.
Sitting with my daughter in the student’s section on Saturday - priceless.

If you do go to the game (and especially if you sit in the student section)

¡DO NOT WEAR NAVY BLUE!

Nonsense!
We’ve stolen everything and gotten away with it. All this ridiculous backtracking and bowing to the Big “C” drives me NUTS!

First, I HATE the crummy powder blue that UCLA has taken on over the years. We started off with navy & gold. I was okay when we reduced our colors to royal blue & gold to be a little different. But by the time it go to powder blue, I had to stand up and FIGHT against this further compromise. The darker we are, the better we score. IMHO. None of you (or even me) is old enough to remember the time when not only did UCLA have navy & gold as its team colors, but UCLA also proudly wore (and sold) jackets emblazoned with the big “C”. I saw one of them on Ebay a while back (and it sold for a pretty price too!). I’m hoping we go back to the royal blue – and was happy to see the 2011 retro student Den t-shirts given out back to royal blue & gold. Yea!!

Second, we also stole the Big “C” fight song. Same tune, but we renamed it “Sons of Westwood”. That ended up in a big fight, but we won that fight because the original Big “C” fight song was in the public domain, so there was no copyright infringement (Go Bruins!). Part of the Nor Cal/So Cal rivalry is yelling over the lyrics. What strikes me is that the Cal fans know the words by HEART. I challenge any of you (and I know with google, I’m putting myself out here) to swear (without a search) you can sing all the lyrics to Sons of Westwood.

Third, I would love it if my peeps (yes, you, my faithful Bruins) get into the same spirit that exists at Cal and learn a little more than the 8 Clap – AND maybe even have a little fun with the national anthem, like Cal does. Sing out: Oh say can “UC”!! And instead of them singing “the home of the BEARS!” we sing “the home of the BRUINS!”

And, yes, I do have a dog in this fight. My husband and I are true blue Bruins, and our son is a, bless his heart, faithful Golden Bear.

S

When you’re at a football game, it should be clear what team you’re rooting for from the color of your shirt. There will be a lot of people at the Rose Bowl wearing navy blue, and most of them will be rooting for Cal.

Otherwise I don’t care. I’m wearing a navy blue UCLA shirt right now.

High up in the hills of Westwood
Sprawled offensive to the eye
Lies a Cal extension campus
Known as Westwood High (high high high)
Home of all the Bruin bearcubs
UGLY is its name
The student body’s vile
The football team’s a pile
and the campus is a shame!

U (clap clap clap) G (clap clap clap) L (clap clap clap) Y (clap clap clap)
U G L Y

Absolutely nothing original about JCLA.

Your powder blue has become darker “True Blue” when Adidas overtook the uniform contract in 2003.

^^ Cute. Sophomoric, but cute.

according to wikipedia, our color is ‘UCLA blue’ as opposed to the ‘yale blue’ that Cal uses.
