I know UCLA has a TAP program and I was looking over its website and I noticed that they have a TAG link there. Is this new? It would be awesome if UCLA had a TAG as unlikely as it seems, xD.

I guess I came off as really stupid.
But I was just so surprised that UCLA would offer something like this so I was just wondering if I am misunderstanding it, because I had never heard of something like this before.

well, tap is kind of like tag, where if you fulfill the requirements then you're basically in, but it is not for all majors and not all community colleges have that option. it would be interesting if cal or la offered tag but had the gpa requirement raised to 3.75 or 3.85

Yeah, I get what TAP is, and how it differs from TAG. I guess what my original question was if according to that link UCLA now offers TAG? As far as I knew this was previously unavailable, and I'm just wondering if it's all just TAP or if it's a new program because if you read the TAG page it says the requirement is a 3.20 gpa or higher, and a few other holistic criteria.

all you had to do was read the page..
right above the 3.20 gpa part it says "The transfer selection review considers the following:" it says nothing about a guarantee or contract.

Why do you guys have to be so rude? Everyone is allowed to ask ANY kind of questions on this discussion board, because the purpose of the discussion board IS to ask and answer these questions. equinebeing, I had to take 6 Honor classes (I took 7) to be eligible for a UCLA-TAP program and I got a 4.0 GPA so far in these classes. My Honors Coordinator sent me an email with the attached "UCLA Transfer Alliance Program (TAP)" certification form and asked me to fill it out and bring it back to her office by February 20th. I had to switch my community college, too, because the first community college I attended did not have this honors program/contract with UCLA.

Haha, I erased and wrote my GPA a couple of times, just because I did not want to brag about it, but people were asking about the GPA requirement for the Honors Program (TAP) and since I am not sure what would happen if you get a lower GPA in these classes or what GPA requirements are, I just posted what I have. I never meant to brag about it, sorry, if it came out wrong. In fact, my GPA is the only factor which helps me to get accepted in these schools. I have no work experience, unlike a lot of transfer students who have 3.9 GPA and 2000 hours of work in chemistry labs/business corporations. I have nothing to brag about, so sorry if it came out so strong, I did not mean to emphasize it. I am sure every person on this forum has stronger and weaker qualities, but since these people are on this forum, they have accomplished a lot.

Why having a 4.0 GPA caused so much commotion, anyways, when there are so many transfers with a 4.0 GPA to UCLA and UC Berkeley, perfect essays, years of work experience and thousands of EC (including helping people during the Hurricane Katrina)? I got accepted to UCSD and UC Santa Cruz after graduating my high school and I got rejected from UCLA, so the least I can do to apply again from a community college is to get good grades and complete all requirements, right? It is what everyone is doing. After hearing that TAP students in my community college have a 97% admittance rate, I thought UCLA is guaranteed for me, but I have so many friends applying with a 4.0 and TAP and much much more that I am not sure about anything anymore. Good luck to everyone, though! :)

A 4.0 isn't as common as you think. Your GPA can't get any higher than that so those who have perfect records are in good shape.

Honestly people even if you have a 3.5 GPA with TAP you're in at UCLA. If you're one of the unlucky few who are applying for an impacted major or attend a college that does not offer TAP (I am double unlucky) then you definitely will need a higher GPA. Nonetheless, even having a 3.8+ w/o TAP makes you very competitive. Unfortunately this waiting game has driven a lot of people to borderline insanity. This is farce.

^^^^ Haha Supa_ramga, I am one of those people with a 3.5 + TAP :]. I grew up loving UCLA, so I'd be stoked to go there. Lately, I can't stop thinking about Cal though.

Supa_Ramga, thank you for your reassurance...I am applying to business economics and I thought that even high GPA + TAP would not be enough. Before I started reading this discussion board I was less nervous, because the phrase "you're in at UCLA" in my community college every time i met my counselors became a ritual and replaced any other type of conversation altogether...When I started reading this discussion board, I saw a lot of people applying to the same major with a lot higher statistics, than me. I am sure UCLA does not look only at statistics. I guess I have to wait and see. )) I wish you two good luck!

By the way, there is a thread on this forum, where people said they had a 4.0 GPA + TAP AND got rejected from UCLA. I will look for it and post a link to it later.
