I think that’s perfect. And if you have to call, just read off word for word as best you can.
awesome! thanks! I’m gonna send it right now.
Now Im obsessively inspecting my supplements and I realized my creative writing and my personal essay both use “Kidding”…dear God I’m going to die. I hope they don’t think that’s amateur. My critical analysis is amazing so hopefully they focus on that more lol
@kscott_2000 I did the same! I’m super paranoid! April 14th can’t come sooner! Are you a CCC student?
Yeah I’m at El Camino right now.
@kscott_2000 omg I was like “wait…how can someone be a transfer from a high school?” and then I remembered that El Camino is a college too! haha. I’m over at Pierce.
hahaha nice I have a friend over there that graduated last year
@kscott_2000 lol nice!
Hey guys! I’m not sure how much help I’d be since I’m not part of the admissions committee, but I checked my supplementals today after reading this thread and found that my creative supplement was over 5 pages by a couple lines yikes! However, I was interviewed in February about my application, so I think that maybe the admissions committee is letting it slide? Since @MiniGrace11 said the whole google docs reformatting thing has been a problem, I figure that they’re more lenient on the page count thing (as long as it’s not over the limit by a TON). Hope this helps somewhat!
@elise22199 Yes! Thank you! I really appreciate you telling us that! It takes a bit of the pressure off. You interviewed in February so you are a freshman applicant, correct?
Yeah I applied as a freshman! So don’t stress about the interview thing I guess! Freshmen (from what I can tell) go under a different review process! @MiniGrace11
@elise22199 Yes, they do Did they say if your notification day was March 17th or not? I believe Transfers will hear back by April 14th but I am not sure if they release all TFT notifications on the same day or if it is separated like the other majors.
@MiniGrace11 they didn’t tell me much about the admissions process during my interview so I don’t know when decisions come out unfortunately :((( how do you know it might be on March 17th? Gosh if you’re right, that’s in less than a week!!!
@elise22199 UCLA confirmed that freshmen applicants will be notified on March 17th (about 5 pm) via twitter.
What was the interview like??? Like what did they ask you?
@MiniGrace11 oh my gosh… the nerves are kicking in! Ahahah your research skills are superb wow I didn’t even think to check twitter! I know you’re a transfer student, but do you know what the chances of a freshman like me getting in after going through the interview stage?
@MiniGrace11 It was really relaxed actually!! When I got there, I sat and talked with a couple of current students (two freshmen and one junior) and they just helped to calm my nerves and stuff. They were super nice!! And then when I got into the interview room, three professors just asked me about my supplement and such… it was really laid back and more of like a conversation than an interview. I was so nervous beforehand, but I walked out of there feeling really excited and I had a ton of fun talking to everyone!
Haha, thank you! I consider myself to be a media conspiracy theorist, so that is where I get my research skills! I could possibly chance you if you provide some info on your stats, essay topics, major choice, a brief synopsis of your supplementals, and where you are from. My aunt is an alumna from TFT so based off of my research and what she has told me about the admissions process, I MIGHT be able to chance you. If you are a theater major…that might be a bit harder to chance but it’s still possible. Film is slightly easier to chance because they do not have the auditions. @elise22199
@MiniGrace11 Oh cool!! Sure! As far as stats go, I have a 4.58 GPA weighted and 3.98 unweighted (last time I checked…) and on the SAT I got a 1390, and 31 on the ACT. My essay topics for UCs in general just talked about my family business, how much food has impacted my life (since we own a bakery, my dad’s a chef, and my mom’s a baker/business owner), and my position as editor in chief of my school’s journalism program. I’d love to go into screenwriting for UCLA, but I also checked off animation since I’m interested in stop motion and just drawing in general (I sculpt and draw). For my creative essay, I wrote about why deja vu happens (basically, it’s because your doppelgänger has been in a place where you are, and you “share” memories. Weird concept I know, but I think I pulled it off alright!). For the life challenge, it was about running a bakery from home, and for my personal essay I talked about my experience going on sets and serving food to various TV show producers/directors (my dad caters for TV). And I’m from California!
-SAT score is a little low for UCLA but your GPA and ACT are great! (sadly, TFT doesn’t really put much focus on these things but congratulations anyway!)
-Personal Insight: Hmm…though one. I know that they like honest, well written, tear-jerking, yet empowering/inspiring stories so as long as you talked about some kind of struggle that ends with a kick-butt ending…I’d say that you’re good.
- Your creative story is actually similar to my aunt's story from when she applied so that's a good thing (considering she got in) and the life challenge...as long as you pulled on the heart strings, I'd say you're good on that one too!
-Your personal essay is awesome! They’ll see that you genuinely have an interest in the industry.
-Being in-state will work in your favor.
- you got an interview.
I would say that the odds are ever in your favor (haha, film joke. anyway…) yeah I’d say that you have a good chance. With numbers coming into play…numbers that I don’t have access to at the moment (but can use a rough estimate to calculate) I would give you a chance of 65% or higher. (I’m a stats nerd that sucks at algebra). I could get a more exact number but by the time I did that with the smallest margin of error that I could get…You’d already know if you got in or not. lol
