UCLA "They don’t really consider students for second choice major"

I saw in collegeessayguy website, that UCLA doesnt consider students for their second major ??
My UCLA first major choice is really competitive CS ( 100% I wont get in😭), so I put in second major as less competitivee major, thinking I have higher chance to get in.

If they dont consider students for second major, What should I do…Because I really want to get into UCLA, should I change my first choice major CS to easier major like Undeclared to have higher chance??? HELP

Yes, they do not consider alternate majors and you have until January 31 to change majors but you need to email admissions to confirm.

The UC application allows you to choose an alternate major, but we only guarantee the review of first-choice majors.

Deadlines for Changing Majors

January 31
Deadline for changing to any major in the College* or Samueli School of Engineering**

If you go Undeclared in the College of L&S, then you would have a very slim chance of changing to CS if that is your choice major for UCLA and you end up enrolling.

Which is more important, attending UCLA or pursuing your major?

There’s a Linguistics+CS major in the College, if that appeals and you would rather not apply to the Engineering school.

You could change to Math,Data Theory in the College of Letters and Sciences as an option. If you want to stay in the College of Engineering and try to change to CS later, then Materials Engineering had the highest acceptance rate last year around 28% but definitely look at the requirements to switch majors to CS.

There’s also a Mathematics of Computation major for which grads are getting great SWE jobs. Anyone can take the Specialization in Computing courses and many are attaching this to Econ, Bus Econ, Applied Math, and the other handful of Math majors as well as Cog Science. There’s a Computational and Systems Bio major, and they just introduced a Social Data Science minor. There’s also Statistics and Data Theory majors which are housed in the Math Department, and the former is blowing up with a lot people wanting to major in it. DT is pretty new, and it looks like its becoming very popular also. Only problem is that L&S has a lot more GE requirements than CS which is housed in HSSEAS.
