UCLA Transfer Housing

It's on the housing offer...Go to the housing page and find 'view and accept housing offer' on the right margin, and it should give you the speicifcs of your package. Also, you can choose which meal plan you want and whether you want a monthly or quarterly payment, etc. I got a SINGLE...I also did not mention that ANYWHERE. Citan, I might have to take you up on that if I can't get this housing thing fixed. They better refund my money if I decide not to go on campus...

What was your initial payment? Or did you not pay yet? Are you going to try to change it?

im in reiber vista ... im still in shock over the triple thing. btw two things..
1. are we in 2 bedrooms with three people in each with a shared bath? or are we in 1 bedroom with three people in it only?
2. if you run out of meals can you just pay cash for the meals or do you have to go off campus to get food?

I believe there's some plaza rooms that are shared by either 2 or 3, or suites w/ single rooms arranged around a small, shared living room w/ 2 shared bathrooms (I'm reading this off the brochure lol) It sounds like a dorm room to me, at least for triples and doubles.

dah i got reiber vistas too.. that was my very last choice

wow single sucks cause it costs more. I got triple...bfired2 PM me with your AIM and we can discuss....Im leaning more towards off campus apartment and on-campus will be my backup...I think you can cancel till September something but there is a late fee.

I haven't accepted anything yet but I will be picking the 14 meal plan (the regular not the premier)...it's only 170 dollars more than the 11 meal plan.

Are you guys interested in rooming up? rent starts in Westwood at around 2K owe need atleast 3-4 people. Iam very interested....let me know. Even at 2K we split between 4 it's only 500....so you save a LOT!!!

I got TRIPLE shared bathroom...here's the floorplan...for the plaza although it's missing the triple occupancy.

here's how mine looks like btw

i have a triple too. i'm pretty upset about this!! and im going to be doing the 14 premier

sounds like transfers got screwed at ucla.

yup we got screwed...and this **** ruins a lot of my plans....you guys have facebook? we need to connect...

i just looked on facebook for reiber vista 06/07 and theres already MULTIPLE freshmen. this sucks

DAMN....am I the only transfer who got a single?? My initial payment was $1,530.. almost cleared me out. The other half is due on July 11th, so hopefully, this will be changed before then. If not, I don't HAVE 1,500 more dollars. lol I was reading the contract info...

"If, after accepting your housing offer, you wish to cancel your housing contract, you must submit your cancellation request by submitting an email to Ask Housing at www.housing.ucla.edu/ask. A $100 contract cancellation fee will be charged for all contract cancellations. An additional $150 late cancellation fee will be charged if a contract cancellation request is received between August 1, 2006 and September 21, 2006. "

Is anyone going to try to change their offer? Don't have much to lose...well 100 dollars but then you'd still be paying a hella lot more than if you were living in a univ apt.

Citan, I'm gonna try to live in a univ apartment first. I think for me, univ apartments/hilgard is my 1st choice, then off campus is backup. I only lost 100 bucks if this doesn't work out, but I'm surprised they gave us all plazas- who the hell is living in the apartments?! haha I won't have a car at UCLA, so that will defintely influence where I live next year. I'll check with some UCLA classmates tomorrow and see if they got shafted as well. But yeah, if UA doesn't work out, I'll look into private apts...just hope they're not all taken by then.

bfired2: I don't think the change thing will work...think about it...university and hillgard are probably full...Im going to try anyway but not gettin up any hopes...

another question for you, if we accept the offer and pay initial payments and later decide not to stay will I get those back or what?

I believe you do, but there's a $100 breach of contract penalty. I sure hope so, because that's the understanding that I have when I accepted and paid.

bfired2: Im also looking at the UCLA co-op

Man i got screwed as well.

RIEBER TERRACE Triple Shared Bath

I was hoping for single/double residence hall.

At least you guys got the better dorms. I got sunset village triple. Man I wanted Rieber or Hederick Double. Stupid UCLA messed up on everyone. How do we find out about the change through email or it says on housing site.

In order to request a change, you have to accept the offer and pay the initial payment. I know, it's friggin retarded. Then, you MIGHT get the request. If not and you want to back out, it's a $100-150 cancellation fee, depending on when you do it, as well as your initial payment back. I would request a change ASAP, as I think it's first come first served.

Yeah.. I've heard usually they're good with granting changes... BUT you have to take into account this year, there is a much larger enrollment than usual. Not only that but the freshmen have known thier dorm situation since May 6th... so thier requests are already in. Also, Sproul is closed for the year.

hmm when I logged into housing 2 days ago, I had a single in Rieber Terrace. This morning I got an email saying I have a triple in Terrace. Did anyone else get their assignment changed?
