Ahh but the chances of me getting an A in one of my classes is not very good. I got low Bs on my first two exams and I missed a quiz ill probably call admissions to make sure because I really wouldn’t want to submit my sir just to get reinsicded. Thanks though!

@Eshug- Yea history is impacted, but are you sure it was on the list of majors you could switch to? I just want to be 100% sure, because like levonid said, i would consider not attending UCLA if i can’t switch into history.

@jaynami they will probably just tell you the same thing to ‘maintain your gpa’ and not to have a ‘significant drop in academic performance’ but call to ease your mind.

@la4ever, levonid I didnt switch to history at orientation because i wasnt planning on switching at that point but I definitely know people who switched. and I really dont think it is impacted. Or I wouldnt have been able to swich in with ZERO pre reqs. But email the dept. to confirm what I am saying. Eboni Shaw is extremely knowledgeable and sooo friendly, so I would recommend emailing her.

@Eshug1- Thanks for all of the information :)

Do you know how hard it would be to switch to Biochem?

I’ll be sure to touch base with the History dept. somehow. Thanks for all your help Eshug!

Wait… So you can definitely switch to a non-impacted major even if you are missing pre-reqs?

@ deanzatransfer All i can say is I switched into history with zero pre reqs. So that would indicate that you could do it for all non-impacted majors, but I dont want to tell you that you definitely can when I dont know if some majors have restrictions.

@walleats I dont know much about biochem. Were you accepted to a different south campus (sciences) major?

I wanted to ask a similar question regarding changing my UCLA major. I got accepted as an Anthropology major but want to switch to Cognitive Science. I emailed the Psychology department & Psychology undergrad advisors to inform them that I wanted to change majors & of the 4 prerequisites that I am missing but will complete during the summer and first quarter at UCLA (I’m missing 2 calculus classes, the intro to programming (C++) course, & 1 logic based course) I am going to take the first calculus course this summer so it should help me get these prereqs out of the way as soon as possible. So do I just consult with a specific counselor on orientation day to make the major change? I really want to resolve this as soon as possible

I’d appreciate any feedback & advice immensely

Thanks in advance

Hi Eshrug. I appreciate you answering all of our questions.
I was admitted yesterday as CC transfer History Major at UCLA.

I have a couple quick questions regarding the major.

I read on the ucla History webpage that it is a “capstone major” and requires that students complete some sort of thesis. Could you provide more details on this?

Also, could you talk a little bit about the class sizes in the upper division courses.

Lastly, I was accepted as “Pre-History”. Are there any additional requirements must be completed during your first quarter at UCLA in order to be fully “admitted” into the History major?

Thanks!
