I was wondering if you guys that got accepted as a transfer student to UCLA for Fall '07 could put your gpa and what school you are transferring from. I am planning on transferring next year and just wanted a general range of gpa's to shoot for.

*Fall 2006

GPA: 3.78
Major: Electrical Engineering
Community College: Irvine Valley College

I never got why everyone is so concerned about a GPA to "shoot for." Just do your best; that will determine which school you belong at.

A 4.0 is the gpa to shoot for.

like any normal human, eanicich would like to reap the most benefits while doing the least amount of work, so he'd like to find out what gpa range a person should strive for.

what's your major?

I got a 4.0 and Political Science which usually doesnt demand such a high GPA (I know people with like 2.9s that got in and no they don't have extrenuating circumstances). Aim for a 4.0 because despite the ease of CC work, having that mentality can kill you at UCLA. 4.0 is not that hard to get at a CC so aim for that. It'll help with scholarships and stuff too.

yep im your 2.9. I got in with a 2.9 as a math major. Thought my science gpa was like 3.3 which is what should matter. Stop worrying, get at least a 3.0 because damn was 2.9 a gamble. I didnt even think I was going to get in. I was already getting ready for UCSB

3.48
math/econ major
San diego community colleges, attended all, transfered from Grossmont

Oh and im coming from East Los Angeles College(ELAC)

3.69 GPA with straight A in 3 caluclus, 1 chemistry, 2 English, and 2 psychology

Math/Applied Science planning to double major in Electrical Engineering plus and minor in psychology or philosophy.

Oh yep, I got in USC and many others under electrical engineering major.

Im sitting on a 3.87 after one year at UCSB looking to transfer to UCLA as a political science major. That is why I posted this thread, to see if that would be good enough to get in. I'm not just shooting for the lowest accepted gpa, I am doing my best and was just wondering if it was good enough.

eanicich, barring unfortunate circumstances, i'd say you're in. My friend got into UCLA poli sci with a 3.5 from UCR, my other friend a 3.6 from UCI.

GPA:3.15
Major:Mechanical Engineering
From:San Mateo Community College District

for you engineering majors, what courses (math/physics, chem, bio...) have you finished at the time you applied and what courses will you have finished prior to transferring? What are your GPA for those major courses ?

damn...why does UCLA seem HELLA easy to get into....at least...much easier than berkeley overall...

ucla is looking for people who overcum hardships and have difficult lives and stuff, berkeley is looking for high gpa.

again i said (seem), dont attack me. just through reading posts....i haven't really heard of any high GPAs being rejected.

ohh i wasnt attacking, i was more like defending my own low gpa .. lol sorry if i seemed attacky

GPA: 3.7
Major: Political Science
CC: Santa Monica / Irvine Valley / Saddleback College
