@Pishroz
3.8 biz econ waitlisted.
Any tips on the appeal essay?!
Reading last year’s waitlist thread many biz Econ waitlists got accepted by June 1
I don’t. That was just an estimation based on the turnover percentage from the Fall 2015 Transfer thread to this one and based on last year’s thread…it’s purely speculation but I doubt they waitlist more than a few hundred students
@aiko0322
I’m still shocked and mad for being waitlisted.
I’ll probably report my grades and write just couple of sentences of why UCLA suits my character and such.
Just spoke to someone in admissions. She basically confirmed what we already knew, which is that admission off the waitlist is contingent on your major and how many people in that major accept/decline their offer of admission. She didn’t have any concrete facts or numbers about how many people were offered the option to opt in to the waitlist this year, or admissions facts from last year. She was really nice about everything though.
@fncrane, did you ask her anything about why you specifically were waitlisted? If so, did she say anything except the usual “too many qualified applicants”?
I’m no expert, but I’d reckon you should address what you’re lacking compared to other students in your essay.
@melimoo Yeah, I asked and she pulled up my file. She said she couldn’t really see any specific reason why I would be waitlisted as opposed to admitted, and she said the only thing she could see was that my GPA was 3.65 and the average admitted GPA for my major last year was 3.75. But there wasn’t any red flags on my application that would make me get a no. She even said “yeah I’m a little surprised for you…”
Do we need to write the appeal essay, even though I got bad grade on winter quarter?
How many people they usually give a chance for waitlist per major?
Congratulations to you all who got accepted!
I really wanted to get accepted too, but I got only the waitlist opportunity.
Does anyone here know about the opportunity?
How many applicants roughly get the opportunity and get accpeted ?
My major is Statistics and the major is honestly not that competitive to get in. And according to the UCLA Transfer Profile, enrollment rate was around 67% in 2014.
My GPA is 3.75 which is exactly the same as avg.GPA-admitted last year.
IGETC is done and I got 2 pre reqs in progress.
No TAP, EC was not that bad I believe, and my personal statement was pretty good.
Do you guys think that I still have chance?
Thanks in advance!
@fncrane, ouch, sorry, I would find that to be super irritating too. I’m in the same boat… both my counselors were surprised I was waitlisted, 3.75 GPA (4.0 from Community College and 3.5 from Reed College, a private school) and all prereqs and whatnot completed.
@MartinSJ, there aren’t any concrete numbers out and no one can predict how many people will be off the waitlist, or who. It’s just a waiting game!
so how many people get wait listed for transfer students? is it only 400? what’s the turn out rate for waitlisted peope high or low? esp for econ pls!
last year was the first year they utilized a waitlist for transfer students, so we don’t know much
If my GPA is a little low around 3.4 should I talk about why I was lacking or should i talk about why I would be a good match?
so it turns out that for econ 180 students get admitted but only 90 decided to enroll. Hopefully that means there will be a lot of seats opened…
@trnsfrstdnt how do you know that already?! Are those the stats from last year?
haha yea I should’ve clarified. I meant based off of 2014 admitted students.
seems like most people that do get waitlisted/pending for ucla end up being accepted to UCB! I hope that’s the case bc UCB is my number 1 (along UCLA).
Waitlisted for Math/Econ as well with TAP. If you guys get accepted to UCB and don’t want to go to UCLA please consider leaving the waitlist. Best of luck to you all!
@ucucucuc what are your stats?
