@trnsfrstdnt your theory doesn’t cover every scenario.
What if someone completed req for both primary and alternate, which most ppl would do unless they’re nuts. You’re basing it solely on the premise that a person didn’t complete the alt requirements.
Assuming req all met:
Waitlisted in primary but accepted in alt, probably put in alternate to assure acceptance.
Waitlisted in both, probably toss you in primary.
Rejected from primary, waitlisted in alternate, they’d waitlist you in alternate.
So, assuming all req met, unless you are super-competitive, you might not know the major you’re waitlisted in.
yea i should edit it! thanks for the advice. also,i didn’t bother to ask about that because i only asked why i got wait-listed. but my theory isn’t a theory. i got the source from the ucla administrators themselves.
No, @trnsfrstdnt, it makes sense in one general area and good to know. It may be that a lot of ppl put an alt in with major prep not completed if they made it sound that way. It’s not a very productive approach.
yea my mistake was that i thought it would be safe to put a certain major as my alt since on assist.org it said that there weren’t any classes articulated for that major.
I’m waitlisted for bus econ too! Really hoping I can get in off of it though…
@breadfish what is your gpa?
It seems like most of the waitlisted individuals are psychology and Econ majors, which makes sense because they’re the most impacted majors at ucla. I am a psych major with a 3.82 gpa. I hope they accept more waitlisted than 25 which was last years case! Crossing my fingers.
how did u know it was 25?
wow. i guess chances are very slim.
welcome to waitlist limbo, enjoy your anxiety-filled stay
I don’t want to get your hopes up, but I’ve noticed certain trends with UCLA’s waitlist over the past couple years. They started implementing one for freshmen in 2012, and every year since then, they’ve made less waitlist offers as I assume they realized they won’t need to pull as many people off each year. Hopefully the same happens with the transfer waitlist - but we don’t know because last year was the first year they used it. From what I can gather it seems that about 700-800 people were on the waitlist last year, so maybe this year they offered it to less people and for majors they saw that could take people from the waitlist last year.
@LegioLatius My gpa is a 3.84. What about you?
@breadfish 3.85
I heard someone in this thread has 4.0 and waitlisted…
@LegioLatius My friend who does not have a CC account was waitlisted for business econ with a 3.87, just to give you guys another perspective
Still can’t believe there is a waitlist for math/econ
If accepted from the wait list, do you still enter the fall quarter or do you have to wait for the next quarter to begin classes? My friend was wait listed for Pre-Sociology and I was hoping with rooming with him in a dorm, but I have to send in my housing application by June first and it looks like people what are wait listed won’t find out until after June.
anyone waitlisted for PRE ECONOMICS?
@LegioLatius yeah a friend of mine has 3.98 and was also waitlisted. I mean hopefully they’re extremely holistic. haha
@breadfish yeah, are you planning to write a lot for the optional essay?
