<p>The yield rate for OOS is a lot lower, which is why the admissions rate is higher. Also, more students from in-state apply in the first place, compared to OOS (who would need to pay more for tuition and fill out a different application, whereas CA residents are more likely to apply with the UC app in the first place & would just need to add another check mark).</p>

<p>Out of state students had about twice the admit rate to UCLA over in state (32% vs 17%). That’s right. The admit rate for California residents is now 17%.</p>
