Hi, everyone! This is my very first post here
I got admitted to UCLA, CMU, and WashU. Fine art major.
I also got admitted to SAIC but it’s not on my list anymore since I really want to touch upon different fields to build a solid knowledge foundation.
I am better at digital art (I did a lot of videos, photography, etc.) but I am very interested in conventional art and would definitely want to improve my drawing, painting skills in college.
For now, I’m leaning towards CMU since it has a great multimedia art program. However, I’m afraid I would lack time to practice other traditional techniques.
From my research, WashU is more towards conventional art which I believe is what I need but I do not want to give up my digital art.
I know that UCLA’s fine art program is ranked #2 in the states but I don’t really know much about it. I am concerned about its huge student body. Because of my interest in film, I kept UCLA on my list. Could anybody describe how they felt about studying fine art at UCLA?
Since I am an international student, I didn’t apply for any financial aid. Tuition is not really a factor. (School visiting is also impossible for me.)
And I’m also planning my master degree. My dream school for MFA is Yale. I applied for BFA at Yale but got rejected. I probably will apply as a transfer again next year.
To sum up, I would like to choose a school that has a solid foundation program which can prepare me for potential transfer or MFA. That being said, I would also like to choose a school where I could fulfill my interest and would enjoy studying for four years.
Thanks in advance!
