Hi, would it be stupid to dump Cornell in favor of UCLA for a pre-med track student from public school in New York. the fees are higher at UCLA for us but weather and happiness factor is great. would we see it as regrettable move
premed at the UC’s is brutal, as I am sure it is at Cornell.
Just not worth the OOS fees to me. Save the money for med school.
@uchicago_NY . . . The only way it would be even remotely feasible is if you as parents (assumably because of your mentioning “us”) would be able to pay both undergrad and med school w/o any debt. That’d probably be beyond top 5%, but with no or small mortgage, loads of cash flow, etc. If any of these conditions fail, just go to Cornell. As a professional, your son or daughter could just move out west, maybe get a residency out here. Best of luck…
To the OOS tuition at UCLA, you should add the cost of travel, if the students needs to travel back to NY from LA.
