UCLA vs NYU in prestige

<p>OK, so I got accepted to NYU and UCLA but I dunno where to go!!! AHHH</p>

<p>I'm oos for UCLA (live in NY) so cost won't matter. Even though I like UCLA, people seem to think that it's nothing but a jock school while the mentality for NYU is a school for gay people (which is totally wrong).</p>

<p>I like NYU because: great atmosphere, close to home, east coast, great undergrad.</p>

<p>UCLA: west coast, the whole Hollywood scene, I want to go somewhere new but I'm scared that of what'll happened if something goes wrong since the furtherest place I've been to is DC.</p>

<p>That said, both schools seems superficial and materialistic. I got no clue where I want to go. Where one is internationally and locally well known, prestige, better job placement. Which one is the better school?</p>

<p>i would visit both. do you have a friend who lives in LA? get him/her to take you around and see if you like it.</p>

<p>i almost went to university of tulsa, and im really glad i checked out hte area before i decided.</p>

<p>hahahaha.....UCLA is not a jock school. if you go to UCLA, keep in mind that you are paying waaay too much (OOS vs in state), but it might be worth it to you.</p>

<p>Hmm, I'm trying to pick too... I'm aware that I'm not getting the best deal being oos too =P But then if it's a great school it doesn't matter. I don't really get the impression that UCLA is a Jock school and NYU's a gay school...though I think nyu is more of a party school. Oh and in ucla you get to feel academically superior to the trojans, in nyc you'd feel overshadowed by the columbians =P hehe..</p>

<p>Apparently Sports Illustrated once named UCLA the #1 jock school in the nation.</p>

<p>Eh, but then again Playboy once ranked MIT in the top 25 party schools.</p>
