UCLA vs. UCSD for Pre-Med?

My brother (neurobio major) transferred from UCSC to UCLA a few years back and said it was hard to do well at UCLA (3.7+ GPA) because the students were so competitive and smart. UCLA has been my dream school for so long, but if I have to sacrifice good grades to attend UCLA, I will probably go to UCSD or UCD (if I get accepted to those, of course).

***Between UCLA and UCSD, which do you think is harder for pre-med & why? I believe the difference in prestige btwn LA->SD is negligible if I can do well at the latter. I'm a hard, SLOW worker + slow reader. I often worked till 12-3AM in the morning studying/doing HW and did well in HS b/c of it. But I don't know if I will be able to do well at UCLA even if I DO try my hardest. Plus, I will probably be distracted by the AMAZING food in Westwood, sports games, etc. if I go to LA.... Does anyone know if UCSD is significantly more laidback than UCLA for pre-med? I'm going in as a psychobiology major for UCLA & a physiology & neuroscience major for UCSD if it makes ANY DIFFERENCE AT ALL.

First, UCSD is NOT a “laid-back” school. They take their sciences very seriously. Second, you will have to work hard as a premed no matter which school you choose, it’s not meant to be easy. Third… The food in Westwood is actually not that spectacular, L.A food in general, however, is great if you know where to go.
